I always thought there was no way
BUT, maybe the initial interest was to find out what other teams were interested, and now that he knows, he would know how far he could trade down in order pick him up later. Though I think that’s a bit overthinking.

I call bullshit.
There’s no quote or anything in that article, and even if there was, let’s suppose Ruskell absolutely hates drafting QBs in the first round. Why the hell would he reveal his hand to every GM in the league and virtually nix the option of trading back?

And this should be on the front page.
Because if this is true, everything is changed.

WHAT THE #($*($ IS GOING ON HERE?
Ruskell is crazy, that’s my only conjecture.
Don’t we WANT to move down? So why in God’s name would we announce we don’t want a QB, and thus not threaten all those below us into moving up?
And let’s say it’s all smoke and that we do end up taking a QB, isn’t that going to make Ruskell look like a ridiculous player? Not good for the future.

It's not true
Not even smoke. He didn’t say it.

Summs on the last two Ruskell press confs, one before that AP article, and one after. Even AP writers like Gregg Bell, who covers the Hawks and loves to inflame quotes, put their names on their articles, I have no idea where that came from. Not even close to true.

If you look carefully at the story...
There is a set of these " " anywhere.
