Should the Hawks be looking at Dorsey?
Call me crazy but does a trade for Dorsey not make a lot of sense? With KC moving to a 3-4, he wouldn't seem to fit as a nose tackle. He's a far better DT than BJ Raji, and he's had a year to adapt to the pace of the NFL. In a draft that lacks true top 5 talent, we could give up our 1st-round pick for Dorsey and KC's 3rd-rounder. Haley, as a coach rebuilding, would surely love the chance to snag 2 picks in the 1st five, and we'd pick up a high 3rd and a player that would probably help us more than anyone we could take at 4.

What kind of contract would we be picking up?
I stand that we’ve pretty well addressed our D-line, but if the price is right or we can renegotiate, then what the hell.
I thought we were talking about Ken Dorsey, but alas it is Glenn.
I did get to see the Chiefs play on rare occasion.
Glenn Dorsey, for a big man, sure gets blown to bits at the line of scrimmage a lot. He generates no pass rush at all.
However, compared to other Pro Bowl DTs in their rookie season (Haynesworth, Seymour, Jamal Williams), Dorsey’s numbers aren’t too bad for a rookie.
He needs to be given more time, just not here. The DT position was addressed well enough, no need to get another.
Seattle: Where the sun coming out or snow falling takes up 20 minutes of a 1 hour local news broadcast.
Sounds unlikely to me
KC is trying to get out of their high pick, not add another one. There isn’t an equivalent impact player at #4 and without a 2nd-round pick, there’s no way they’re going to dump off their third-rounder.
They’ll give Dorsey more time. He should fit nicely as a 3-technique lineman in their new scheme, whether it’s a 4-3 under or a 3-4 under or whatever.
Oh, I thought this was just pure speculation...
But maybe not…
the Chiefs and Falcons may still be working on a deal that could send defensive tackle Glenn Dorsey to Atlanta for the 24th overall and 90th overall selections.
Does Dorsey play the right "technique" to play opposite Mebane?
If so, whew, that’s a lot of talent and youth at DT. Recipe for a great defense. I’d love that, and would definitely be willing to give something like our 2nd and 5th plus next year’s 2nd.
I'd do that in a heartbeat.
Although I’m wary of Dorsey. Whoever heard of a DT less than 300 pounds, weighing less than even his college quarterback?

He uses his moobies to engulf and stop swirling pass-rushers in their tracks.

The scary thing is...
…he’s easily double my weight, and yet probably faster and more agile.
I knew I'd seen these moobs before

I can't see any team footing the bill for two top-5 selections.
The cost is astronomical, even considering taking Dorsey’s deal off the books for KC.
Kansas City are 32.5 mil under the cap
Take away Dorsey’s contract and they’re more than capable of two top-5 picks. I just don’t think Dorsey plays big enough for 3-4, and if Haley thinks so as well and Pioli / Haley get the chance to get a deal that allows them to put their stamp on the team in such a huge way I could see it happening. Dorsey / Mebane at DT would be awesome, and imo he’d give us more than anyone coming out this year could. I know it’s all fanciful conjecture but I can dream!
How about an after the draft trade?
Straight up Dorsey for Hill (after we sign him). We keep our draft picks for 2010. Play DD or Hawthorne on the weak side.
