Yikes, Sling Blade comes to mind...
You guys do realize that Davis has a learning disability and scored an 11 on the wonderlic, right?
I don’t want to base things off the wonderlic, but I don’t want to see Davis sitting on the sideline eating paste and telling the ball boy, “you ought not talk like that, you just a boy.”
After the big 3, might as well not even draft a QB. Just sign somebody as an UDFA.

Brandon Mebane scored a 10 on a wonderlic test.
Please tell me that you don’t put any stock in that test.
Weez the juice!!

Mebane scored a 10?
How the hell did he graduate from Cal…
But I digress, DT and QB are entirely different positions that obviously put a different emphasis on skill sets. I would want my QB to be a little more than just literate to throw the ball and lead the team.

Perhaps, but it goes back to what I've been saying about the Wonderlic for quite some time
The Wonderlic is not indicative of anyone’s ability to play football. That same year, Jordan Kent scored a 35 on the Wonderlic, which is pretty good. Kent never cracked the starting line-up on a consistent basis. Ryan Fitzpatrick scored a 48 on the Wonderlic, but we all know how great of a QB he is sarcasm.
Weez the juice!!

Agreed... as a single measurement tool.
BUT-
All things being equal (or relatively speaking), I’d rather have the 40 than the 4.

Since when do football players have to read books to graduate college?
It's great to be a Florida Gator!

The wonderlic only tests the way certain brains operate boring conceptual problems
what it does not do is measure how fast a thought is translated into action, and how quick decisions are made under duress.

Well... supposedly, you have to answer every question in 8 seconds to finish them all
or something quick like that. But I guess that would be like comparing 100m speed to 10 meter speed.

Thanks JoMo and Doug.
I’m going to wake up early tomorrow so I can see rounds 6 and 7 and watch me some draft coverage.

All respect to John but I like Doug’s draft better for us.
by A'Seahawks_Warriors on Apr 25, 2009 1:52 AM PDT reply actions 0 recs
I think
Doug’s is far safer… Curry, Delmas…
John’s has a space-shuttle type upside… Jenkins, Johnson…

I'm gonna mix and match for the best combined draft.
1. Jenkins
2. Delmas
3. Iglesias
4. Greene
5. Davis

I'd rather have
Shipley and Follett, but every pick is close.
I love round 2’s picks by far. Love Delmas, haven’t really though much about Johnson, but I’m absolutely convinced that he’s a possible top 15 pick talent (in terms of upside).
by LantermanC on Apr 25, 2009 8:35 AM PDT up reply actions 0 recs
Have I mentioned I love me some Follett
I like Doug’s draft but I think it seems to include the writing on the wall. Bye bye Leroy. Doug is that your assumption as well?
by Built2Spill on Apr 25, 2009 9:41 AM PDT up reply actions 0 recs
That's cool
It’s a mock draft. I’m not selecting my guys, but the players that I think will be picked. I actually selected some guys I haven’t talked about just to flesh out the pool. It’s my intention that readers know as many potential Seahawks picks as possible throughout the draft. That’s one of the reasons it’s so cool that Doug is posting his too, because one’s brain can only escape one’s own personal blinders so much.
Doug’s draft is strong. My only concern is that if Seattle is moving Tampa 2, how does Follett fit?

I may be the only one...
but yuck.
It is what it is...

Somewhat, yes...I mean yuck.
Maybe Doug and John’s mocks are just setting us all up to be happy about who we actually draft. If we can accept their drafts, then the real thing should be amazing…

I feel the opposite?
What’s the turn off? Too much emphasis on defense? Not enough oline and skill positions?
by LantermanC on Apr 25, 2009 9:48 AM PDT up reply actions 0 recs
Yes, I would like some offense.
I’m also not enamored with Curry. He’ll be good, but… Also I’m not high on Jenkins. The first-rounders are the biggest turn-off for me. I’ll support whoever the team ends up with, though. I’m a rookie, armchair scout fan, so what do I know? Their picks would make the team better and I like many of them, so I’m not really knocking it as much as wishing there was a pick that really got me excited. Where are the Crabtree, R.Jennings types? We do need something for the offense other than an average, fit the ruskell mold, safe, logical choice receiver after round one guy. There. I said it.

I think what you mean is we don't need horseshit fringe NFL players like Jordan Kent and Courtney Taylor
pegged as the future of our offense or anywhere near our roster, for that matter.

Almost fell out of my chair reading that.
But yes. You are correct, sir!
by Misfit74 on Apr 25, 2009 10:41 AM PDT up reply actions 0 recs
Ah yeah...no kidding
I prefer my 6th and 7th rounders to be guaranteed locks.
Why take… what was it?… ah yes “horseshit fringe players”… when you can draft sure things with your 197th overall pick?
Bring Your Game, Leave Your Name.

but even the post-first rounder I was referring to could be those types.
I wanted Chris Johnson last year or JStew. But nooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo.
by Misfit74 on Apr 25, 2009 10:52 AM PDT up reply actions 0 recs
Sure... of course
I was parodying the fact that frog thinks we NEED to be hitting homers with “horseshit” 6th and 7th rounders

Or, we can address our offensive needs, you know, a bit earlier in the draft
So there’s a higher chance we can have someone who can contribute and maybe our offense won’t be completely stagnant. There’s a novel idea, eh?
Not a shot at you of course, all in fun, good sir. The draft gets me giddy.

That was really my point, anyway.
Spend some higher picks on offense.
I’m with you.
by Misfit74 on Apr 25, 2009 11:43 AM PDT up reply actions 0 recs
Both mocks look solid, but I see no RB's
I have to believe we’ll be taking a RB by round 5, one who can step in to spell JJ, and potentially replace him, not just a small complentary guy like Forsett. I’m sure they like Beanie, but are more likely targeting Jennings, Peerman, Coffee or Sheets.
by diehard82 on Apr 25, 2009 11:03 AM PDT reply actions 0 recs
I agree
It’s something that bugged me about my draft.
by John Morgan on Apr 25, 2009 11:05 AM PDT up reply actions 0 recs
Sheets is still out there John.... or do you see him as more...
of a Jones type back and are thinking a complement is more in order?

I like Sheets fine
be he created a ton of bad blood at Purdue and beyond moral character, Ruskell believes in team-first character. Also, I don’t think he would fall nearly as far as the sixth.
by John Morgan on Apr 25, 2009 11:14 AM PDT up reply actions 0 recs
had no idea about the character....
do you see any late RB’s that could exploit a zb scheme?

Jeremiah Johnson, Glen Coffee if he falls, Ian Johnson
Maybe Antone Smith.
