Epic fucking win.

I won't agree

until I see the numbers …

Honestly, I’ll be disappointed if they settle on 6/$36 (or anything higher) that was offered prior to the draft.

I just don’t think a linebacker is worth it (when you’ve got two other bright stars at the same position).

The demise of the Broncos in '09 is our future. Pray hard.

I agree, it's great that we get Hill AND Lucas

but I hope the numbers are fine.

McCoy McCoy 2010, also acceptable, Russell Okung, Ndamukong Suh, Dez Bryant, Ciron Black, Trent Williams, and Bryan Baluga.

"I just don’t think a linebacker is worth it (when you’ve got two other bright stars at the same position)."

You could have said that before we drafted Curry.

Absolutely right

But I’m not the FO so I don’t make the decisions ’round here!

I just hope we don’t end up breaking the bank on Curry

Yes!!

Best thing to start my day!

Sam Bradford, future Seattle Seahawk.

So how good is this defense going to be, then?

Is the safety position our only weakness right now?

by Wilder. on Apr 30, 2009 12:15 PM PDT reply actions

On paper

but also the transition, the learning curve of the new defense. New playcaller (Mora), coordinator, position coaches, new starters on the line, rookie LB, new (again) CB Lucas, and if things go well, new safety Adams.

Like last year with the offense, there’s so many changes that it’s more likely one or two don’t turn out to be successful transitions, than that they all do.

But overall, I’m tremendously excited about the defense and think it could make a lot of noise. The offense I’m still a little worried about.

by jacobstevens on Apr 30, 2009 12:19 PM PDT up reply actions

Yes, though it might not even be that if the team unleashes Jamar Adams

or Courtney Greene.

Our offense though, it makes me want to cry.

Oh it's not that bad

Maybe frown.

Every single person is coming off of injury

Just about everyone is nearing 30 if not well past it. In addition, you have 60% of the line who likely even be here next season with Walt, Wahle, and Spencer.

Housh may never transition into an effective #1, Branch might be IRed for tripping on a blade of glass, Burleson could still be the epitome of inconsistently, Butler might be a bust who only performs vs. weak college teams, the other WRs might not belong on NFL rosters.

Hasselbeck is aging and injury-prone and we still don’t have a QB of the future to groom (unless you think Teel is it), and Wallace is not a full-time starter. Julius Jones is still average at best and TJ Duckett hasn’t shown he can do much more than rush for a couple yards at a time consistently.

You're betting on the worst case scenario happening to everyone.

It could happen, but our offense is only cry worthy IF the worst case scenario happens to everyone.

I'm not actually counting on this to happen.

But I’d wager several of these scenarios will happen over everyone staying healthy, performing to their potential and/or contract, and Hasselbeck going through the season without incident.

Also Jones is more than average.

He’s average at LEAST, not average at BEST

Y'know

Just sayin’

The offense makes you want to cry?

We’ve got

QB Matt Hasselbeck
RB Julius Jones, T.J. Duckett, Justin Forsett
FB Owen Schmitt, Justin Griffith
TE John Carlson, Cameron Morrah
WR T.J. Houshmandzadeh, Deion Branch, Nate Burleson, Deon Butler, Courtney Taylor, Ben Obomanu
LT Walter Jones, Sean Locklear
LG Mike Wahle, Max Unger
C Max Unger, Chris Spencer
RG Rob Sims
RT Sean Locklear, Ray Willis

Why does that make you want to cry? That’s at least average.

Makes me want to cry. Tears of joy.

Taste the happy Michael.

Just to clarify,

I wasn’t calling Brett Michael, I was quoting Arrested Development.

Some people are just glass-half-empty.

Though after last season’s injury bonanza, it’s sort of understandable that some fans are paranoid about a repeat scenario.

by sev79 on Apr 30, 2009 12:58 PM PDT up reply actions

Honestly, I'm always paranoid

that something is going to happen. But that’s more of a Seattle sports thing then anything else. I’m also an optimist, so I usually don’t worry about it too much. My optimism tends to win out. Hence, I think we have a real shot to make the playoffs this year and if we do who knows what will happen.

by Fear on Apr 30, 2009 1:57 PM PDT up reply actions

Hasselbeck, Branch, Jones and Wahle are all pretty big health concerns at this point

It’s an average offense that’s upside doesn’t come from youth and talent but wagering on old players staying healthy.

Ken Lucas

is lining up with the first team at right corner this weekend according to the interview, and Josh Wilson doesn’t like it but Mora calls it competitiveness. Kelly Jennings is still recovering from surgery I guess by what Mora said. Wheeeeee!!!

2/3 of the world is covered by water. The rest is covered by Marcus Trufant.

by Chickadee on Apr 30, 2009 2:47 PM PDT reply actions

I have a feeling that the Kelly Jennings era in Seattle is over.

Backup dimeback for 2 seasons? Depth if Ken Lucas gets injured?

I’m really excited to see Josh Wilson focusing on slot receivers, though. I think the interceptions will keep on coming.

by redwolf75 on Apr 30, 2009 2:57 PM PDT reply actions

Oh, and for ST next season.

I bet Nate will JUST be returning punts (no more KR), with Josh Wilson and Deon Butler splitting KR duties.

by redwolf75 on Apr 30, 2009 2:58 PM PDT reply actions

I posted this somewhere

but cant find it. Right now, before the start of camp, Forsett is starting PR.

This is a statement by Coach.

by Chickadee on Apr 30, 2009 3:00 PM PDT up reply actions

I hope this doesn't last.

Forsett is nowhere near to being in the same league as Nate for punt returning.
