FO Previews the NFC West
Today's post is sort of a hit and run. The always wonderful Football Outsiders has a series of division previews, and here is their look at the NFC West. The Seahawks portion won't be anything surprising, but the look at the rest of the division is wonderful.
To discuss: Which NFC West team will give the Hawks the most problems this year?

Definitely the Cardinals
I think the 49ers and to a lesser extent the Rams are moving in the right direction but they’re both still reclamation projects. I truly believe we’re going to take back the West this year but the Cards will make it tough
I think the Niners are our biggest threat.
They finished so strong last year when Singletary took over that I can’t imagine them finishing any worse than 7-9 with a decent shot at being way better than that.
I'm betting Singletary wears them out quickly
and that they’re starting to come apart at the seams by the end of the year. I also tend to think the Cardinals will regress a little, but I still expect them to play pretty well.

Bleah
The writer of that piece sucks! Ugh, I wish somebody had punched him in the head a lot when he was younger.
The hawks have improved
This is a two pony race….. The Cards and the Hawks
Cardinals will be champs again!
I think you can expect the Cards to have their stars suffer injuries and miss the play-offs.
You know, like pretty much every super bowl losing team.
And go 7-9
like every other team that’s beaten the Eagles in the playoffs.

Niners
but….it really is a lack of options. Cards will still be hungover from the superbowl and the rams…. i mean c’mon…. the rams!?!
Cards vs. Hawks
Rams improve slightly to 5-11, 49ers go 7-9 again. Cardinals and Seahawks both finish 10-6 but Seattle makes the playoffs on the tiebreakers.
The Cardinals are our biggest worry.
We did a good job by getting Lucas, a big corner, and Curry, a good coverage LB, so hopefully we won’t get torched in our games against them.
The Niners seem to be geared towards running the ball a lot, so we’ll have to see how Colin Cole and Redding do, though SF’s o-line doesn’t scare anyone.
Not much to say about the Rams except better luck next year.
McCoy McCoy 2010, also acceptable, Russell Okung, Ndamukong Suh, Dez Bryant, Ciron Black, Eric Berry, and Bryan Bulaga.
Cardinals are the only ones that remotely pose a threat.
The 49ers are absolute trash and you can’t convince me otherwise. They have about 3 players who would be surefire starters on other teams, and they hired one of the worst offensive coordinators in recent times. They had a good draft but had the luxury of picking BPA because (surprise!) they have holes at just about every. single. position. Last season they madly overachieved to a 7-9 record because of a laughably easy second half schedule, and barely suffered any noteworthy injuries. To me, they reek of the 2007 Lions, and will do a lot worse next season.
The Rams had an immensely great offseason, but I truly do expect them to struggle for a season or two, until they have a definite upswing in 2011. Bulger needs to restore confidence and he needs some more weapons.
The Cardinals, on paper, didn’t do anything to actually get worse. They probably are going to win the division next season. The Seahawks can win it if Kerney is healthy enough to make Levi Brown his bitch again and something happens to Kurt Warner. Actually, in general if our secondary shows decent improvement by Lucas returning to form and someone takes a bat to Brian Russell’s knees, I suspect their run game will be as shoddy as usual. I have great expectations for our new nickel package.

Ha, I feel the same way about the 49ers.
I just don’t see how they won 7 games. That team just looks bad to me. A few players on defense, one guy on offense, and the rest is just average or a lot below average.
McCoy McCoy 2010, also acceptable, Russell Okung, Ndamukong Suh, Dez Bryant, Ciron Black, Eric Berry, and Bryan Bulaga.
2010 Seahawks Mock: 1A: Eric Berry S, 1B: Ndamukong Suh DT, 2: Charles Brown OT, 4:Zac Robinson QB, 5: Stafon Johnson RB 6: Will Tukuafu DE, 7: Kerry Meier WR
The cards will be our only competition. I agree that it will be very close, but hopefully we win the division. 49ers would be much better if they didn’t have trash for QB’s

Or trash everywhere else on the team, for that matter.
