It will be very interesting to see how training camp shapes the Hawks roster for the coming season.  I've been looking at the depth chart, trying to guess who will make it and who won't, and see several key battles.  Keeping in mind that each NFL team can dress 47 players with an additional 6 on the active roster who can't dress, here are some predictions.

Provided everyone stays healthy, which is almost guaranteed NOT to happen, I see 45 players as locks for a roster spot and will dress for gameday.  For brevity, I won't list them here.  However, numerous guys are on the bubble, and I see the following as key battles to make the team, with my prediction in parenthesis.  I'm looking for a spirited discussion with your opinions. 

Teel vs. Rowe (Teel)

Forsett vs. Moore  (Moore)

Schmitt vs. Griffith  (Schmitt)

Newton vs. Morrah  (Morrah)

Mare vs. Coutu  (Coutu)

Hawthorne vs. Laury  (Laury)

In addition, there may be some surprises.  Teams typically dress 7 offensive lineman.  Assuming that includes Jones, Wahle, Spencer, Wrotto, Locklear, Willis and Unger, that leaves Williams, Vallos and Sims.  Can we afford to have all three taking roster spots?  Because Unger can play guard or center, I predict Vallos will be out. 

Lastly, while the reports on Bennett were encouraging, I'm having a hard time figuring out how he makes the 53 man roster.  With Kerney, Tapp, Atkins and Jackson, and Redding taking some snaps at DE, there just doesn't seem to be room on other than the practice squad.
