Trading for Kevin Kolb
According to Pro Football Weekly:
With talk that Donovan McNabb could get an extension that could make him an Eagle for his entire career, it’s interesting to note what might happen to Kevin Kolb, once believed to be the heir apparent at quarterback. Our sources continue to tell us that the Eagles like Kolb — just as the Packers liked Matt Hasselbeck once and the Patriots liked Matt Cassel after his breakout season. There just might not be a home for Kolb, who is signed through 2010. Don’t be surprised if he is showcased a little bit this season, perhaps in a blowout or two, and then becomes trade bait next offseason.
The NFPs Michael Lombardi had this to say, referencing the same article quoted above:
Reminder also, when we go uncapped next year, Kolb will be have to be in the league six years before becoming an unrestricted free agent. So based on his recent play and the conditions in the NFL, the Eagles might trade Kolb, but they’ll never get a second-round pick back.
I don't know much about Kolb other than he's been in a similar situation to the one Hasselbeck was in prior to us trading for him. A backup riding the pine and holding a clipboard, while studying behind an all-pro quarterback. But that's not all. Kolb hails from a West Coast Offense, as well, and could make a fairly seamless transition if he were traded to become a Seahawk (depending on what changes our new coaching staff make schematically, of course). With some talk of targeting Brian Brohm for the same reasons, news of Kolb potentially becoming available for a similar price could provide another option. Food for thought.
A place to bury strangers.

I voted draft.
But I think the other two are great options. I mean, ok, so we don’t get Colt McCoy or Jevan Snead or whatever QB is projected to go in the top 10, but we’d only have to give up a 2nd (or 3rd which we don’t have) for Brohm or Kolb, both know the WCO and play behind great QBs. And we could get both Eric Berry and Gerald McCoy/Ndamkung Suh.

I kind of want to see Teel succeed.
I like the underdog feeling or maybe pick up Andrew Walter once he is freed from the black hole of Al Davis’s soul.

Andrew...Walter?
o_o
I’d like Brohm.

The feeling of an underdog is great,
but the reality is that underdogs are underdogs for a reason – they’re extremely unlikely to amount to anything. High draft pick or Brohm would be ideal to me.

Oh I completely understand that
and I chose Andrew Walter because I wanted to say “freed from the black hole of Al Davis’s soul.”

Oh, now it makes sense.

I wonder if more people woud favor trading for a QB
if we still ran Holmgren’s complex system vs. the current and supposedly easier to assimilate system we’re implementing.
Early prospect watch: RB C.J. Spiller, QB Jevon Snead, OT Ciron Black, DT Gerald McCoy, S Eric Berry, DT Ndamukong Suh, CB Ras-I Dowling 6'2, 200, RB Jonathan Dwyer

He was "showcased" in a blowout loss to Baltimore
and played terribly

Kolb did indeed play poorly against the Ravens
…but so did his offensive line. IIRC a missed block led to him being hit as he threw one of those picks. I think I’d rather have Brohm, but I don’t know enough about either of these guys to make a sound judgement (or to prefer either one to the draft).

Kolb even sucked in the preseason.
In fact, the popular theory is that Andy Reid gave the okay on drafting ‘KOLB’ because he thought he was a new linebacker position.

Please no.
Seattle Seahawks: We've got Brian Russell and TWO kickers!

As an Eagle fan and sometimes University of Houston fan....
He is not the pro prospect I thought he was. I thought he’d be a quick learner who could possibly one day be a pro bowl talent. Alas he hasn’t developed a lot since his rookie year.

I was mildly surprised when the Eagles drafted him.
I thought Kolb was rated way behind Stanton and some other QB (Beck?) and was a marginal first day pick.

From the looks of it
that group is quite the turdsatchel.

Yeah, in retrospect that was a pretty shitty QB class.
Although I heart Brady Quinn. Come on Ruskell, make my fantasy GM scenario come true!

I like Quinn, too.
But he could still end up Rick Mirer…

Or Tim Couch...
I’ll take Russell over Quinn every day :D

He was rated about even with Beck but Edwards was rated higher than them
He was rated as a 3rd tier QB with only Quinn and J-Rock being 1st tier QBs and Stanton being the only 2nd tier QB. I still have my ESPN draft magazine from that draft. I am still high on Josh Swogger lol

Forgive my ignorance, but who the heck is J-Rock?
