Seattle Seahawks Sign Long Snapper Kevin Houser
Seattle gets a minor steal signing veteran but still reasonably young longsnapper Kevin Houser. Houser was available for unique reasons. He involved his coach and teammates in a business deal that went sour. The Saints did not explicitly connect Houser being cut with the failed investment, but nevertheless a good player, the longest tenured Saint (and nearly longest tenured Saint in team history) was cut without any clear benefit to the team.
So Seattle adds a player at a position it has been struggling to fill for over two years and now, with Bryan Pittman, has a surplus of long snappers. How about that?

I called it
The saints just dropped a 10-year vet LS because they are poor
So sez deadspin. Seems like it might not be a bad idea to bring him in for a bit of competition (or the dreaded 2K-2LS formation).
Now, on the to second part of the plan: the 2LS-2PK “Crazy Legs” formation.

Looks like we're going for two after every TD!

They can't be serious about carrying only one punter this year
Seriously though, I was pretty happy about Pittman. Seems weird that he would want to come to Seattle to compete against someone pretty good like that.

It is a bit odd
but the more the better. That is, as long as one wins out.

I've got it.
The new West Coast Defense features two long snappers, two kickers, and two footballs being kicked to the opponent on every play. They’ll never know what hit em.

You may be joking
But that’s pretty much what the Rams fans were saying in 2007, following the signing of Josh Brown.

Did I miss something?
How is it Houser’s fault they lost money?
Did he introduce them to the idea/studio in the first place? Cause if that’s the case, he isn’t the one that told them to open up their pocketbooks….I read through some of the Saints blog and couldn’t find anything other than blaming of Houser with no facts to back it up and Jeremy Shockey taking shit on his Twitter account ???
OH and SWEET! ….the beginning of the Saints game still haunts me…what a terrible snap and event that followed

Houser may have encouraged other players to sink money into the failed investment
Per the dialog I had with Times-Picayne reporter Jeff Duncan (which you can read HERE), Houser is “a great all-around guy and, as the most-tenured Saint on the roster, someone that others can go to for advice and information. He’s a registered financial broker and helps a lot of players with business tips”.
From the Times-Picayune:
Houser put a “very significant” amount of money into Louisiana Film Studios, and others with the team followed that lead hoping to reap a financial benefit that has not materialized, his attorney Rob Couhig said.
On the bright side, he seems like a very reliable and effective player:
From Saints Nation:
He’s been a reliable member of the team, and his name rarely ever comes up because he’s been so consistent. As a long snapper your duty is taken for granted a lot of times and your failures are magnified. It’s remarkable that in 9 long seasons, Houser has never made a critical error that’s put him under the microscope. Houser is currently the longest tenured Saint, and is also a leader in the locker room.
Should be interesting to see how this plays out. One thing is for sure: should the Saints release Kevin Houser, he will not take long to land another job as an NFL team’s long snapper. He is that good, and the Saints would be making a mistake letting him go.
Lots of comments, here, at the Times-Picayune website screaming bloody murder that they cut him for a 14-year vet that’s played on 5 different teams (and was picked in the 4th round of the 1995 draft by the Seahawks).

Houser was the point man
They apparently let him go because team members who lost money were pissed and the release was supposed to be to maintain locker room chemistry. Shockey even expressed his anger on Twitter so the reasons may be valid.
For you guys it’s a good pickup. Houser never screwed up once on the field. Just the victim of some bad luck off the field.

Releasing Houser was good politics.
But like most good politics, it might look awfully stupid in six months.

Good Move.
The guy seems like a great pickup and he may just be the answer at LS since JPD left.
As far as the Tax / investment, issue he seemed to be part of, I don’t care. I looked over the story and if they (Manning, Payton, Grant, etc) blame him for what they “CHOOSE” to do with their own money, I say whatever.
In all the invesments I have made (over that last five years), I make the choices where to put my money, and how much to invest. Then my financial advisor would give me ideas where to put my money and help facilitate the investment. For good or bad it is on me. People who blindly put money in another persons hands and says “make me money” make me shake my head. You can only trust other people so far.

that is exactly my feeling on the situation
but unfortunately his team members might not have the same point of view.

What sort of investments?
I’d like to learn, though I have very little money.

they bought tax credits that were supposed to be invested by a film studio
and was supposed to return $1.33 for every dollar but the money never got invested. Here is the latest.
New Orleans is called “Hollywood of the South” They film a lot of movies down here because film companies get tax incentives when they film in the state of Louisiana.

I wasn't asking what the players were investing in lol
Just what JustinWF was investing in. I know very little about the investment game, and I’d like to learn.
