Hail Canada! Field Gulls Goes International on Canadian Radio

I will be talking with Mike Halford of the Vancouver Province on Team 1040 sports radio at roughly 10:45am today. You can listen live from their website if you're not in the greater Vancouver, Canada area. We're talking training camp, Seattle's new brain trust and general Seahawks goodness.

For those that missed it, it can be found here.

You need to give us more time, damnit!

Will it be archived?

Question: since this was Canadian radio, did the top of your head lift when you spoke?

Sorry John.

I was going to listen but I got called into the office last minute.

I assume you yourself had short notice.

Did Mike Halford know his ’hawks pretty well?

by shams on Jul 26, 2009 11:29 AM PDT reply actions   0 recs

Somewhat short, but they gave me time.

It was mostly me talking, but they seem like an informed, opinionated group. Obviously, that they would reach out to me speaks highly of them in my book.

I hope you said that on air.

Suck-up that I am, I would have learned a few facts about the B.C. Lions to casually drop in the conversation.

Off-topic, are you gonna get more access this year to the Seahawks front office?

I'm not sure.

Given my style, I think that’s probably a maybe leaning towards no.

This Canadian heard it

I was impressed. The Erin Andrews/Deadspin controversy was a hard topic to follow but you kept it moving on a much less sexy topic. You sounded like someone who did radio a lot and not like a blogger who has trouble communicating outside of typing. Halford knows his stuff – he’s a Canucks guy, no doubt – but he’s pretty well rounded. I’d be surprised if you weren’t brought back in.

It was great, John.

I think we’re all waiting to see when someone is going to start paying you for all of this.

You know, I lost my father. Ah, he'll turn up. Have you checked the dumpster out back? He used to like to take a nap in there."

Thanks everyone

I just re-listened to it. I am pleasantly surprised.

Blame Canada! Blama Canada!

“With all that hockey hullaballoo,
And that guy John Morgan too…”

Well done. Radio can be tough, especially when you’re giong in cold, but you sounded comfortable and very well-informed.

Accolades,

Nice, John. Keep up the great work.

On a side note: Do I understand correctly you are on a self imposed beer embargo? While the Portland Beerfest is underway? Tsk, tsk.

I'm gonna go calm submissive on your ass.

Great job Jon

I am loving this and have to agree with the poster that said you should be getting paid for all this work you’re doing. You’re talented man…

Not bad, eh?

John – very well done!

Just because we Seahawk fans up here are in a different country doesn’t mean we don’t follow the team seriously. I thought the interviewers showed good knowledge of the Hawks as well – but John showed super knowledge.

Looking forward to hearing you up here more often. BY THE WAY – John if you’re not being interviewed regularly by Seattle media sources use that tape as a demo to get them to interview you more too.

Great job.

Question though, where did you get the stats about the Julian Peterson sack efficiency thing?
