Qwest Field is #9 in homefield advantage
This video brandishes the 12th man as the 9th best homefield advantage in the NFL. Obviously we concur. This is a good antidote Brendan Scolari trolling fanpost about Julius Jones where average is good and mediocre is best. Everytime I leave Qwest Field I am screaming just to hear myself speak. What are some of your experiences at Qwest Field? Are you ready for tomorrow's home opener? Are the Bronco's ready for the 12th Man?
A place to bury strangers.

to many experiences to list
it’s a madhouse in the Hawk’s Nest every Sunday and the NFC Championship game is the single loudest experience of my life.

I have a hard time...
believing there are 8 worse places for the opposition to play.
Ex. the 8th is Miami’s Orange Bowl, is given massive credit due to the heat/humidity.
Well, that’s great and all, but c’mon. Both teams have to line up in equal weather conditions…
Please, for the LOVE OF GOD, stop suggesting next year's 1st round pick (or picks) be used for Taylor Mays and or a QB of the future. Let's just let the season unfold, people, and evaluate much deeper in the process!!!

That's stretching it a little ...
There wasn’t much snow. It didn’t even cover the field lol

What about the game in 2006?
People were still trying to get him vias on the I-5 the next morning.

When you have to shout into the ears of the person next to you
and they still can’t hear you (and this is during a PRESEASON game!), that’s when you know you have a good home field advantage.

I take issue with
the Pittsburgh stadium ranking higher merely because of the “successful teams that played there.”

Yeah...
when I saw the next 2 in front of us had to do with A) quality of teams that played there and B) the weather (which both teams have to overcome) I was quite unimpressed. Oh well, at least they did a good job covering our stadium in the vid, and I love the that only game I’ve made so far was the feature game (NYG 05)…

And the thing about Qwest is that it still manages to be that loud despite
being ranked 21st in capacity. Imagine how loud it would be if it held as many fans as FedExField does (91,704, over 24,000 more seats than Qwest has).

I disagree with the ranking.
Qwest Field, given it’s winning percentage since 2003, is in the top 5.
9th? That should piss off the fans and make them shout even louder.

I don’t think there is a tougher place in the NFL for a visiting offense.

116 decibels?

I read that the NFC Championship game reached 132 dB's.
And that the Wild Card game against the Cowboys was loud(?) enough to register as a 3.0 earthquake on the Richter Scale.

Seriously, what the hell? I make a detailed post and probably made 100+ comments backing it up and you don’t even post in the thread but instead just make a completely non-sensical insult here? What a joke, your fellow Seahawks fans ought to be embarassed.

Nah, it's not funny anymore
I’m just ticked that people can be so rude and ignorant just because someone isn’t praising their team to high heaven. It is just incredible to me that someone could think I’m a troll because I don’t think Jones is a good starter. I thought most people were open to questioning their internal biases and having an open discussion about the merits of their players and team. Clearly the “My TEAM RULES GTFO TROLL LOLZZZZZ!!!!” philosophy is still going strong.

You're clearly sensitive to our criticism
That might be an indication that your temperament isn’t suited to walking into someone else’s board and saying that (1) their RB sucks and (2) everyone on the board is dumb for thinking that he doesn’t. The “rude(ness)” you experienced was a lot milder than you’d find almost anywhere else had you done something similar.

Well
I actually said neither of those things. I said that Jones is not a good runner for a starter, but he is a good blocker and receiver. I also think he’s better than a lot of backups, but I was not comparing him to them. I think he has his uses as a player, but is not very good at running the ball.
I also don’t think I called anyone dumb, it was some Seahawks fans who resorted to the personal insults.
So I don’t find it sensible at all that I am being called a troll, jackass, or stupid seeing as how I made a fair argument against one player and was respectful to everyone else. I figured I would get a better reception, but considering not many people agreed with me I guess rudeness was to be expected, that doesn’t mean I have to like it.

Owned
That said, I’ll defend Scolari on J. Jones. Jones for his career usually runs negative DVOA most years as a rusher, and he wasn’t any better as a catcher than MoMo. The only thing I can honestly “rave about” with Jones is his pass blocking, which is some of the best I’ve seen from a Seahawks RB in a long time. Overall, He’s nearly identical statistically to Morris, but cost more. He is 2 years younger, but overall, I think Jones is a #2 back in a good running game. He’s not terrible, but I’d compare him to our offensive line, a talented group that strives to be average.

Yyyyeah..
Brendan I think the flak you got on that post was extremely mild for the internet (and for lasting over 500 comment). When you’re so persistent in an argument (where you make few concessions and inject a lot of opinion AND misquote yourself) its gonna frustrate SOME people. Only about 95 percent of replies to your post were argumentative and respectful.

During the Seahawks Holmgren heyday (2003-2007)
The Seahawks overshot their DVOA based “projected wins” stat (that is, how many games they SHOULD have won based on how well they played over an average season) by 1-3 wins every year.
Sure, part of that is Josh Brown’s golden leg in 2006 and also the fact that good teams usually overachieve somewhat, but during Holmgren’s heyday from 2003-2007, the team only underachieved once- 2007, when they had a projected 10.7 wins. Over those 5 years, the sum of the difference was +4.1 games, or about +.8 games a year on average. Figure that Josh Brown takes a bite out of that for his heroic 2006, and lets say it’s +.5 games.
I’ll admit that’s a bit of fuzzy math, but would anyone doubt if the Seahawks won, on average, an extra game (vs. normal homefield advantage) every other year just from Qwest Field during this period?

I played a football game...
at the Kingdom before a Hawk Steeler game in around 86 or 87.
We sat on the rolled up baseball astroturf on the field at around the 25 yard line. I still remember Darryl Thomas (wasn’t that his name, the long ball threat with hands of stone?) getting hit hard right in front of us and his eyes going WIDE OPEN as he got hit.
Pretty cool memory… also, I was the only player that got number 80’s autograph. Which was really cool considering I was a WR and he was my hero… oh, and we parked next to LB Michael Jackson in the parking lot, he had a white vette… and (I found this out waaay later) my uncle smoked a bowl with him in the parking lot, lol.

My only Qwest experience was vs. Dallas in '05
1st time Qwest had seen rain during a regular season game. Was a great game, but it looked like we were sunk with :30 to play, then Babs picked off Bledsomuch and JB kicked the GW FG as time expired, Infuckingcredible. To feel the lowest of the lows and higest of the highs all in about a 30 second span is something else.
I wish I could have been there for the NFC Championship and the Playoff game vs. Dallas aka The Botched Snap. I was working at a very busy bowling alley down here in Vancouver for that one, and for those few seconds before the ball was snapped and up until the play ended the place was dead silent. Then when Homo went down the place just erupted. 1000+ ppl going fucking insane all at the same time in very cramped conditions. Incredible. Man, I love Football.
OOOOOH!!!!! That was NASTY!!!!!!!!
