Cut Neon Deion?
Eric Williams of the News Tribune thinks it's a possibility. Is it me that's behind on the times, but when did Deion become our #3 receiver? In any case, I still think it's an interesting thought.
If I was smart enough, I'd figure out how to post a poll with the following choices:
- Are you kidding? Keep Neon Deion!
- Keep him, but restructure his contract
- Trade for a draft pick or player if possible
- Dump him! We've got plenty of WRs

Why the hell would we cut him?
Andrew Raycroft for backup? Does not compute.

I thought it was pretty curious, too.
I mean let’s think about it for a moment. Imagine cutting Branch, then facing any semblance of the aggregate WR injuries we’ve faced three out of the last five years. Ruskell would stab himself in the face.
I think that would be the height of stupidity.
We all remember what happened last year. I prefer Branch over Burleson, but even if Branch is our number 3 and we don’t go 3 wide often this year he’s still important depth.
If the preseason is any indication
We’ll be going 3 wide quite a lot.
The demise of the Broncos in '09 is our future. Pray hard.
Yeah, seems like it.
I just remember hearing a lot of speculation before games started about how Knapp would use 2 TE sets and we wouldn’t use 3 WRs as often as Holmgren.
I heard cutting him would only save us $1 million.
No point in cutting him. Shoot if we do that, we might as well trade him for something. 5th rounder would be better than flat out cutting him, no?
This rumor is dumb
We don’t save a lot by cutting him but we’d lose a lot in depth.
Brett Favre is the Kenny Powers of football.
Cutting Deion Branch makes about as much sense as cutting Seneca Wallace
Saves almost no money, he doesn’t suck, and we need depth at that position.
Then again, its getting confusing now that we have 3 players named Deon/Deion, and two WR’s no less.
Incidentally, all of them are fantastic.

Something tells me Eric Williams just wanted a lot of people to read his article.
No way we cut Branch. The sheer stupidity of such an act would cause me to have a seizure.
It's Great to be a Florida Gator!
Pay him less?
While I agree that getting rid of Branch is a BAD idea, he is also getting WAY too much money for a 2nd or 3rd receiver. I think it would be worthwhile to discuss a pay cut. Take note Tim Ruskell
Why would he write that?
I’m asking that seriously.
I wouldn’t put that in writing unless I had some info. So either there is something to this, which I don’t believe, or I just can’t respect this guy as a journalist. You don’t just put stuff like this out there. It’s rediculous. It kinda pisses me off.
Bring back Frank Hughes!

No way we cut him
And unless someone is desparate for WR (due to injuries) mid-season, and Housh/Burleson/Butler are healthy, and very productive, i wouldn’t see a trade for anything less than 3rd round pick, preferably 2nd.
