Seattle Seahawks Injury Status: Center

Chris Spencer: Spencer played much of the 2007 season with damaged cartilage in his left shoulder and a dislocated right thumb. The shoulder forced Spencer to snap right handed. Doctors repaired both injuries shortly after the end of the season. Spencer reported to training camp, but was forced out of action with a back injury. He started week 4 of the preseason and then started the first 11 games of the regular season. Spencer first appeared on the injury report prior to week 12, but started. It was the last game he would play all season. Seattle placed Spencer on IR on December 3. Jim Mora is giving Spencer the occasional break to protect his back, but he has otherwise fully participated in training camp and is as healthy as he's been in years.

That's the news I like to hear!

Early in the summer, Sando said he doubted Spencer’s back would be 100% in training camp. I really appreciate hearing the reports from camp on Spencer! Fingers crossed!

No.

Thanks for screwing the ‘pouch’, as they say.

Wrotto, not Vallos?

Interesting to see Wrotto mentioned as a backup center, when most of us think of him as a guard.

2009 O-line

I expect us to trot out the following O-line in week 1:

Locklear / Sims / Spencer / Wrotto / Willis

I just don’t think Jones will be ready- the team will want to be very cautious with that. Given that the alternative to Jones is starting Locklear and Willis, two guys the organization has become pretty confident in, my money is on a week 3 or 4 debut for Jones depending on how things look on the field.

Wrotto has seen NFL playing time and that is why I think he will get that 5th OL spot (w/o Walter). Unger’s versatility makes him an ideal first lineman off the bench.

I am really glad we are getting started against STL at home this year. We rushed for 370 against the rams last year and I expect similar things this year. When you are getting 5 yards rushing on first down your passing game starts looking pretty good. Then, with a lead, your defense looks pretty good. Before you know it, you just blew away the Rams (again).

If you're right, I'd guess week 3

The Bears are the first tough team we play.

I was gonna say^^

somehow I don’t see WalJo being needed to stop the Rams defense week one…

Yeah, I feel that way too.

Unless Chris Long suddenly becomes Jared Allen overnight, we should conceivably be able to handle them with or without Walt. Unless, of course, they go blitz-crazed again, but last I checked St.L only gambles like that at home.

Don't forget who their new coach is.

If we expect our defensive scheme to change for the better, so do they.

I expect our solid additions at LB, D-line, and CB

to make the change for the better. What do the Rams have in that regard?
