Maybe now enough of a precedent has been set to help the Curry negotiations. Details not released yet but Arrowhead Addicts speculates:

The Chiefs have reportedly agreed to terms with DE Tyson Jackson, the No. 3 overall pick in the draft, on a multi-year contract.

Details have not been disclosed. Jason Smith, the No. 2 overall pick, received $33 million and last year’s No. 3 overall, Matt Ryan, received $34.5 million. Jackson will likely come in at around $30 million guaranteed.

Great news

Hopefully this means that Curry will sign soon too and we can avoid the whole 18-car Crabtree drama pile-up. The terms of the contract for the 4th pick should be pretty well set by the terms of the 3rd and the 5th pick.

Well now he's buffered by the 3rd and 5th picks.

Most reports say that the team and Curry’s reps have been in constant contact. I wouldn’t be surprised if he is signed by tomorrow afternoon.

C'mon guys, get it done.

It’s kind of hard to laugh at the 49’ers and Crabtree when Curry is still unsigned.

It's Great to be a Florida Gator!

I know man.

People in glass houses shouldn’t throw stones. I am going to hold out from work tomorrow in order to repent.

maybe he's pulling a Crabtree

and saying he should’ve been and was considered the #1 player in the draft and thus deserves #1 money (as if being hypothetically better then where you were actually selected means f-all of a lot).

and yes, I know that’s probably not the case, just making a joke at Crabtree’s expense.

I like it.

We can definitely get this thread to 50 posts too.

Curry is holding out for the 2011 Draft in order to get more money AND avoid Brandon Spikes in 2010

Contract details:

Nick Wright of KCSP radio in Kansas City has alerted PFT that Jackson’s deal is for five years and $57 million, with $31 million guaranteed. Jackson was the third overall pick in April’s draft.

Curry is going to be expensive.

Yep

$29-30 million guaranteed for Curry.

It’s an assload of money, but if I had to pay any player that much guaranteed, it’d be Curry. Lowest bust factor by far.

The demise of the Broncos in '09 is our future. Pray hard.

I can't wait for Fearless Frog's take.

He loves investing a ton of money on one side of the ball…

On a non-rush OLB, no less.

Looks like Curry wins the holdout.

Good move.

As long as it is structured right, he(like Burleson) will be in position to negotiate an extension and the huge inflated 15M seasons will be washed out by whatever his true worth is in a contract extension.
