Chris Spencer Injures Ankle, Carted off Field
H/T Nick Andron
Per Sando:
The severity of the injury was not immediately known, but trainers helped Spencer to the cart after the center tried to take one step. Spencer did not attempt to put weight on his left leg from that point forward.
Mike will (or has already) be on with Brock and Salk on 710ESPN with perhaps more details. Since John is off covering camp, I'll be sure to update this post with more information as it comes in.
UPDATE: Per Danny O'Neil at the Seattle Times
Center Chris Spencer suffered an ankle injury during the Friday morning practice. Coach Jim Mora said it does not appear to be serious and said the initial indication is that it was not a high ankle sprain.
Good news if it isn't the dreaded high-ankle sprain.

Sorry Nick, I think John and Scruffy are the only ones who can bump fanposts and fanshots to the front page
Thanks for posting the link.
After Douglas on the Falcons tore his MCL
I was thinking “I hope we don’t have many injuries in training camp, and I hope not many major ones.” But that never happens, so now I wonder who will get a major/semi-major injury first?
Brian Russell,
Logan Payne

And let's just say that *knuckle crack* that Russell's won't be a natural injury.
MUHAHAHAHAHAHA!!!
A Mariners fan in Seattle
Carolina just had a crusher... their starting DT...
Ruptured achilles.
“The 6-foot-5, 345-pound Kemoeatu was the key cog in Carolina’s run defense, often drawing double teams and opening up lanes for speedy middle linebacker Jon Beason to make plays.” Crap… lost the link with the quote. So, credit to the source, wherever it was…
Please, for the LOVE OF GOD, stop suggesting next year's 1st round pick (or picks) be used for Taylor Mays and or a QB of the future. Let's just let the season unfold, people, and evaluate much deeper in the process!!!

That's false, though.
Kemoeatu is like their version of Howard Green. Extreme size, and should theoretically be a beast run-stuffer, but is frustratingly weak against it.

Really?
I guess I assumed he was above average. But not because of his size; I thought his reputation was pretty good. I guess I don’t know firsthand, but if he’s truly frustratingly weak against the run that’s a surprise to me.

Oh, right!
It took me a second, but I just remembered WHY the team drafted Max Unger (and will keep Steve Vallos on the roster).
Lets hope Spencer is ok in a week or two, but the real question is, can Chris Spencer go a month (or two) without getting some kind of injury (I’m starting to really doubt it)?
Help me Max Unger
you’re my only hope…. well not REALLY but it seemed an OK time to make a Star Wars reference.
Glenn Beck likes argument, but has a deap-seated hatred for logic.
Stars Wars references are always welcome
regardless of context or relevance.
The demise of the Broncos in '09 is our future. Pray hard.
A bit of perspective
The Panthers lost for the season quite possibly the player they could least afford to lose. Brandon Mebane, stay healthy dude, pleeeez.
Wait, what?
You can’t possibly be referring to Ma’ake Keomatu.

With the lack of depth the Panthers have
the loss of Maake is a pretty big one.

You rock Brian.
Just got off the road (sorta), but didn’t make it to Seattle. Today I learned the limits of sleep deprivation.
Godspeed Chris Spencer.
Glad I could help.
Take it easy and get some rest.
