Leroy Hill to Miss Two Weeks with Strain
Coach Mora announced on ESPN 710 that Leroy Hill will miss the next two weeks with a strain in his groin or abdominal area. Will Herring will fill in during Hill's absence. Herring is a good cover linebacker and a little age and a lot of conditioning have allowed him to bulk up his safety frame into a respectable, Tampa 2-style linebacker frame. Think Cato June. Herring will need assistance to sustain tackles, but if Sunday was the standard, swarming to the ball is creed, not suggestion.
During the same press conference, Mora announced Derek Walker has been released to make room for D.D. Lewis.

O'Neil update from his Twitter
(Good lord that felt stupid to type)
Walter Jones and Chris Spencer are expected to practice this week. Whether or not they play on Sunday remains to be seen (I’m doubtful), but otherwise that’s encouraging.

Abdominal Groin Injuries
I assume there is some kind of book on this variety of injury. Anyone got the details?

Waived, not waved, I think.
Mora announced Derek Walker has been waved to make room for D.D. Lewis.

I'm glad Herring gets a chance to showcase his skills.
I like him a lot. If LoJack pans out, give Ruskell credit, he is very good at finding front 7 players in the draft.

I figured they were just being cautious with him.
Especially considering the score.
NEEDS MORE FREEDOM!

Good to hear.
I was waiting to hear something on Lofa (not major). I was guessing that the game was so out of control there was no need to bring him back in, and that was right (I guess).
As for Hill, shocking, a player gets a big contract and they get injured, it must be a Seahawks thing (or not), get well Hill, the team needs you. Then there is Herring, after watching him this preseason and on Sunday, I have no issue with him starting a game or two. He tackles well, plays the ball well, and is in place most of the time. He is not Hill, but he can play, and we have seen him become a solid backup. Also Lewis is back and he just makes the Hawks depth that much stronger. Bring on the 49ers!
