NFL Week 2 Open Thread
Northwest fans get a couple lopsided-looking early games. Cincinnati at Green Bay has the makings of a blow out. Us southbound few get to see what Seattle passed up on. Mark Sanchez defends home turf against the New England Patriots. Without wishing any specific harm to Sanchez, the Jets or their fans, it would be nice if Seattle did not pass on a franchise quarterback.

I hope Sark can stay around for a few years. I’ve already assumed that it is a forgone conclusion that he will eventually take over for Pete Carroll but it would be nice if he didn’t jump ship to a step in between.
Holt already tried and failed miserably with Idaho
I would be surprised if he got another job anytime soon
If the D keeps playing well he might be gone this year

Cole and Red--that's 660 pounds!
I love Mebane. It really is too bad to have him out for this game. BUT this is almost better, for this game. The 49ers will run, run, run. With Kerney, Cole, Red, and Redding this line is simply massive. There will be no big runs today, mark my words. It will also help compensate for Hill’s loss, especially if coach decides to start Hawthorne for him…if indeed the Niners want to run like crazy. This lineup, at least for the start gives our offence time to go out in enemy territory, in SF, and make some plays. At half, the game is in the air, so we need to be ahead!
by Christopher Mattix on Sep 20, 2009 12:18 PM PDT reply actions
There's still the question of whether they'll play at the same time
There’s a good chance Terrill and Redding split the DT pass-rush duty (or not).
Hopefully Not
If this was Marshall I’d see Terrill starting. But I think Gus and Mora see playing Red and Cole together as a plus, at least on obvious running plays. Hopefully they play together quite a bit and then Redding/Jackson slide inside on passing.
Personally I am a little surprised Terrill is still on the team…
by Christopher Mattix on Sep 20, 2009 12:21 PM PDT up reply actions
Of course
Loosing Mebane is huge, but we may be able to make up for it with Red, in the running game aspect. But it obviously slows down the whole group.
And Herring will likely start, they could probably compensate by playing Milloy as the run-stuffing Safety this game as well.
