Matt Hasselbeck Sent to Hospital, Receives Good News
Danny O'Neil is reporting that Matt Hasselbeck was taken to the hospital after leaving the game. There they performed a CT scan. The preliminary report is a rib injury, which is beyond good news. This is an important reminder to not get too low when it happens and not get too high when the early news is good. Hasselbeck's status is a way from being determined.

Hasslebeck era is over
in my opinion.

Seeing him writhe on the field in agony
….even if it was just from his ribs/lungs, definitely seemed like “the” moment we knew his career might be over.
Of course, I’m hoping for the best, but lungs or Ribs be damned- his back was destroyed on that hit. I was already worried about the health of his back, and seeing that hit was like seeing someone drop a concrete block on a baby. It was even more horrific than the Minnesota knee injury because we weren’t nervous about Hasselbeck’s knee for months before that game like we were with his back in this one.
Now all we need is some good news about Walter Jones, Lofa Tatupu, Brandon...
…Mebane, Marcus Trufant, Leroy Hill, Sean Locklear, Josh Wilson, Julius Jones.
This has been an unbelievably crappy couple seasons for injuries.
Anyone think Frank Gore would have rushed for 200+ yards if Mebane, Hill and Tatupu had all played?
Of course not
considering that 159 of those yards were on 2 runs right up the middle.

Mebane and Tatupu play in the middle
Terrill is Mebane’s replacement and is horrible at stopping the run.
A big ass emphatic NO!

That's what happens when you start Craig effin Terrill.
He may be a slightly above-useless pass rusher, but he’s a swinging gate in run stopping.

Yeah but...
We are so injured even if Hasselbeck is okay; and even if he is okay, will he be able to play after that hit?
"rib bruise"
God, I never thought those words could sound so Good!

What about Locklear???

He should have a release clause in the contract when someone gets arrested
May the Forsett be with you.
Quite the morose
sense of humor today. Understandable. If it weren’t my Birthday I’d be standing on the edge of a cliff.

That's the least you can do.
You returning from Europe caused this injury. Way to go, Robert.
Do you really trust me and my mental fortitude to survive possibly losing Hass and Felix in the same year?
Absolutely not!
Which is why we’re having you committed tomorrow morning. You’re going to be the first beneficiary of the Field Gulls Charity Drive.
I can't say on Felix
That would burn, but Hasselbeck will be replaced by a younger, better quarterback that could lead Seattle to the Super Bowl.
Over WALLACE???
In all seriousness he’s not a bad passer and he’s very versatile.

He is what he is..
Wallace is OK and that is all one can say really. He is a nice use of a roster spot because he is a decent backup QB and can help us in the receiving game in a pinch and work a few trick plays. When I watched Wallace take the field in the second half I was thinking: Wallace is alright, but he never wins in these situations.
If Hasselbeck is going to miss significant time I don’t think we will pick up another QB. We will go with Wallace and Teel as the backup, possibly bringing in some no-name emergency 3rd QB… and look to the draft next year.

Wallace is a dynamic athlete, but not a winning QB.
He had clear opportunities for two touchdown drives in the second half. If Hasselbeck was in the game, we would have won 24-23. Wallace doesn’t complete the key passes that win games. I’m over him as a QB.

That's a very valid point of view.
And yeah I think Hass would’ve made those plays as well but that doesn’t make Garcia better than Wallace at this point. If he were, I strongly doubt the Raiders would’ve dropped him.

thanks for putting some actual information on here
“Even with all of the injuries, Mora said there’s no panic among the players in the locker room, or a feeling like this is 2008 happening all over again.”
Time for everyone to get a grip. If we get Matt, Walt, Brandon, and Lofa back in there, we can beat anybody.

I was at the game
and last year’s, maybe I’m bad luck(although season tickets since 2003…who knows). Niners fans are pretty jacked up about being 2-0(it’s cute really) but they were cheering their heads off when hasselbeck fell down walking off the field, that’s pretty low.
Walter Jones to play Sunday
http://www.rotoworld.com/content/playerpages/player_main.aspx?sport=NFL&id=539
Early prospect watch: RB C.J. Spiller, QB Jevan Snead, OT Ciron Black, DT Gerald McCoy, S Eric Berry, DT Ndamukong Suh, CB Ras-I Dowling 6'2, 200, RB Jonathan Dwyer
Wow
That might be the earliest I’ve seen a player announced for a game. They wasted no time, which is even more amazing considering that Jones only practiced, what, one time last week?
Still, great news.
Y'know...
Despite our QB taking a hit that I’m pretty sure was powered by Fat Man and Little Boy (his fault for diving head first) our O-Line (Vallos excluded) didn’t really look that bad. Especially surprising since we were down to some 3rd string LT I’ve never heard of.
It sounded like he had a good chance to play yesterday
Hopefully we won’t need to use Frye for a while.
If its any consolation, you can expect a front page fanpost on the subject later today
stealing both your thunders.
vallos was awful
any chance we had on one of our only good drives in the second half was destroyed with that awful snap.
The Hit on Hasselbeck reminded me a lot like a Bas Rutten fight.
RIGHT STRAIGHT LIVER SHOT!
NEEDS MORE FREEDOM!
Oh and Lofa gets it
Mora said Lofa Tatupu told the team he couldn’t go when he realized that he might injure his hamstring worse than it already is early in the game.
NEEDS MORE FREEDOM!
