Reasons to live!
None of this is adjusted for opponent, of course. Offense looks better than you might think, too. Hasselbeck, Jones, Spencer, Branch, Mebane, Tatupu, all have a good probability of returning before the bye. Trufant, Hill, Locklear, Wilson and Griffith realistically could return the for the Dallas game.
We should expect more injuries to come. For this many guys, it's far more likely that at least one will be bothered, ineffective, the rest of the way, or take 4 or 5 weeks longer to return than the timeframes we want to believe in. But they're not on IR. We weren't going 16-0 anyway. The health of this team might look dramatically better by this time next week as we prepare for a game that will be a lot easier to accept a loss from. Let's just focus on the Bears. We haven't lost yet, and we can still win this.

Great post
Thanks for the great point of view! I tend to agree with you on this. One week at a time. The season is not lost.
A lot easier to accept a loss from?
After this week we travel to Indy and I don’t want to be 1-3.
Regardless of the record
if we lose to the Colts in Indy, it’s not going to be a surprise. We could be as good as the most optimistic of us were hoping for, and still lose that game, and it wouldn’t mean we had problems or lacked talent.

And if maybe it wasn't clear
I meant to say, it looks bad now, with 11 starters on the injury report. But we still have a chance against the Bears, might get four guys back for that game, might get a couple more by the Indy game, and the last few (Trufant, Locklear, Wilson, Hill) out longer but no matter how healthy we are or aren’t for Indianapolis, at our healthiest that’s a losable game. So it will be a lot easier to accept a loss in Indy than at SanFran. Hence, if we get our starters back over the next three weeks but still lose at Indy, we’re still in good shape.
But we haven’t beaten the Bears yet. We deservedly are underdogs at home. I don’t want to get ahead of that game by any means but putting the injury situation in perspective, it seems a lot worse than it really is.

The injuries are still bothersome
Because they came at a truly awful time: They all (I think all..) happened before halftime of Week 2. In terms of our schedule and of division competitiveness, this was one of the least desirable outcomes. I can’t envision a loss on any other week in the year being as painful as the last week’s…
Ok that was me badly needing to vent after just moping around all week!
I think the Bears are plenty beatable. I think the Colts defense is beatable. And i definitely think the Jags and Cards at home are beatable. Most of all though I would like to hand whiny ol’ Cutler a frustrating, penalty-and-passing-game-incurred loss.
