Jahvid Best/Beast/Bust and General College Football Thread
After years of bogus mock drafts teasing it, Seattle is finally in the market for a rookie running back. Could that back be Jahvid Best? Got me. Best has always looked too East-West for my tastes. My favorite rusher profile is the North-South burner that can catch like Chris Johnson. Is that Best? Is there another prospect that excites you? Will Chip Kelly lose his shit and punch an official before the end of the half? This is a catch all thread for college football and prospect watching. Show me something Best--or at least push down C.J. Spiller's draft stock.
I'll be in and out, working on the third and fourth quarter tape.

They're losing against the Ducks!
Woo, good for the Huskies

Uhm, would this rookie be taken in the later rounds?
Because, you know, every Seahawk fan wants a shiny new QB (Colt McCoy) in the first round.
Go Ducks.

Right, but a running back and a QB both in the first round?
Only in an uncapped year, right?

The positional difference in the draft (where they were picked)
is a much bigger contributor to pay day then the actual position the players play. You are paying out of your nose regardless.
My attention had been turned to Snead until Thursday.
Still not ready to give up on him though

I really still want Eric Berry
Especially with our modified Tampa 2 Defense. Because that’s what WCD looks like to me.
Yeah, I'd rather have Berry and a QB.
I think JJ and Forsett could be great if the line ever gets healthy.

I want a QB
and either a DT or OT, though I won’t complain if the Seahawks go with Eric Berry
Sam Bradford, future Seattle Seahawk.

We have many holes, and only so many picks to fill them with. =(

At the pace he's playing, Best's draft stock is soaring.
But Cal has only played scrub teams. I’ll wait until they play USC and see how he does against some real competition (he didn’t do well against USC last year).
Best can also serve as a tremendous KR/PR. But, I’d rather have bigger, stronger runningback like Jonathan Dwyer.
Doesn't need to have break-away speed.

Either does Brandon Jacobs, and we know what he can do.

you don't say..
Dwyer broke runs of 60, 66, 74, 85, and 88 last year and this year. He also caught one for 79. I saw all those plays and he was running away from DB’s. He isn’t the shiftiest guy but he is as fast as one can ask for. I am on record as having a big Dwyer man crush so theres that too. Another yellow jacket I’d like to see in blue: Morgan Burnett just nabbed his career interception in college.

*13th
also note: Dwyer may not have Chris Johnson hands, but his lack of catches reflects to a large extent the fact that the Tech offense is all pitches.

Right now for me:
Spiller
Best
Dwyer
I also like DeMarco Murray.
Early prospect watch: RB C.J. Spiller, QB Jevan Snead, OT Ciron Black, DT Gerald McCoy, S Eric Berry, DT Ndamukong Suh, CB Ras-I Dowling 6'2, 200, RB Jonathan Dwyer
I agree with this
I really wanted Johnathan Stewart. Dwyer reminds me of Stewart. 235 lbs, 40 yd dash 4.4s, maybe 4.5?

Stewart was a fucking animal
I still wish we had somehow gotten him

Stewart went to my High School (Timberline)
So I guess im kind of biased..But the dude is a monster..Hes still up on the boards for weight lifting records

What if we got Dwyer and Spiller?
Do you think they will both be first rounders?
by Pessimistic Optimist on Sep 26, 2009 1:50 PM PDT up reply actions
By the way I understand the chances of us getting both are very slim
But a man can dream.
by Pessimistic Optimist on Sep 26, 2009 1:52 PM PDT up reply actions
I agree it would be a waste
But I was just saying, I wish we could get both.

The college football ranking system is laughable.
An inaccurate system misranks teams based on reputation, creating the appearance of drama and weekly upsets. Instead of gasping when Florida State goes down, maybe the loss means they just weren’t very good to begin with.
Official rankings should not happen until the fifth or sixth week of the season.
This is still only putting a band aid on a broken bone.

I pined for four years to see the Ducks come play in the Swamp.
So I could watch the Gators tear them apart. Damn the college game schedules.

They do this every year
Hyped up and then realize they haven’t had a good QB since Aaron Rodgers.
May the Forsett be with you.
Saweet, TD Ducks.
So what if his last name is funny. Makes for funny “Dickson your Best” signs. Though not as good as the famous “Dixon your Booty.”

Anyone see that ref just walk off the field in the Cal/Oregon game?
Like it was no big deal. Like he was just gonna eat Chip Kelly’s hidden stash of jerky, crack open a Pabst and flip on BYU.
Pac 10 refs, man.

Mardy Gilyard
I know WR isn’t a position of need, but man is that dude explosive. He’s like a taller Desean Jackson.
OMFG
I just woke up from a nap and saw the score at the two minute mark. Not only did the Ducks shut down the Bears’ offense, but frickin’ Masioli got 3 passing TDs.
I’ve got a coworker that lives and dies Cal and he’s gotta be on suicide watch.

Jahvid Best
He is in the Reggie Bush mold with some differences, Best is a better blocker and i think Bush is a little more elusive, but on the flip side Best does a better job of avoiding negative plays. This means that Best is a great / back because he is a good receiver. This also means he is not a good fit for the sea hawks cause what we really need is a good traditional back. That being said Best is an absolutely deadly weapon in college and will be so in the pros

Moar liek Jahid WORST, M I RITE GUYZ?!?!
"I wish the Seahawks were back in the AFCW so we didn’t have to face Willis and Gore twice a year."
Toby Gerhart
He’ll be there in the 2nd round probably the 3rd even. They guy is punishing. If we can’t get the top couple of guys, he would be a great alternative.
