Early Game Open Thread

Dan Dierdorf reminds the Tennessee Titans to remember who they are. I.e. Remember the Titans. How much you want to bet that was written on a cocktail napkin last night?

Another test for Mark Sanchez. I can't argue with success, but I still want to see how responds to playing from behind.

He was a little banged up coming into the game

There was a question about whether or not he’d play.

Mike Wahle(OG), Walter Jones(LT), Chris Spencer(C), Marcus Trufant(CB), Deion Branch(WR), Sean Locklear(OT), Brandon Mebane(DT), Leroy Hill(LB), Lofa Tatupu(LB), Josh Wilson(CB), Justin Griffith(FB), Matt Hasselbeck (QB)

Sanchez

clearly a fumble

And idiotic – does he realize he’s in the NFL now?

by paul2 on Sep 27, 2009 10:14 AM PDT up reply actions

Ah, right

The rules as they are allow so many ‘cheap’ TD’s, because theres no fumble, and no body needed (on running, just football and hand need contact).

I really like Curry..

But I don’t see him winning any games for us..

Julian Peterson never won a game for us. He certainly did his part – but if Seneca throws the way he normal throws when under pressure.. it won’t really matter much.

by fender on Sep 27, 2009 10:23 AM PDT up reply actions

Julian Peterson is the reason we had any success in 2006

And the only type of game changing LB in the NFL is DeMarcus Ware

"I wish the Seahawks were back in the AFCW so we didn’t have to face Willis and Gore twice a year."

by Fearless Frog on Sep 27, 2009 10:24 AM PDT up reply actions

I would say Julian did his part

But I think most of the success of 2006 came from Matt getting injured and spending a ton of time in rehab. He came back from the knee sprain lean and mean and carried a new level of fitness into 2007 where he had a record year.

I’m not trying to minimize Julian’s impact – he was amazing.. but while Matt was away Seneca mostly sucked and Seattle lost most of the games.

by fender on Sep 27, 2009 10:29 AM PDT up reply actions

I'm still bitter about him throwing away the games in KC and SF.

The defense did their part to give Seneca a chance to be the hero and he threw picks when it mattered on unimportant downs too if I remember correctly – not 3rd and long.

Matt would have won them.

Maybe I’m way off.. I’m hoping that Knapp can find a way to plan a game that Seneca can win. I think he had too much to think about with Holmgren’s offense – and that exposed some bad decision making. I have some hope – Mora was able to put Vick into manageable situations.

by fender on Sep 27, 2009 10:40 AM PDT up reply actions

Dude he did not throw away the Niners game

Do your research. We were 20-0 down, Jerramy Stevens handed them a touchdown with that fumble.

It was 20-14 thanks to Seneca’s deep balls and the only reason we lost is because Holmgren TWICE failed on 3rd and 1 and 4th and 1 with Strong and Shaun.

May the Forsett be with you.

*cough*

http://www.nfl.com/gamecenter/2006111913/2006/REG11/seahawks@49ers#tab:analyze/analyze-channels:cat-post-playbyplay

Defense got him the ball back from the 35 he gave up 9 yards on a sack (didn’t throw it away)
Next play he forces it and hands the Niners the victory in a game where they lost by 6 points.

  1. Seattle Seahawks at 01:47
  2. 1-10-SEA 35 (1:47) (Shotgun) S.Wallace sacked at SEA 26 for -9 yards (R.Green).
  3. 2-19-SEA 26 (1:38) (Shotgun) S.Wallace pass intended for D.Hackett INTERCEPTED by W.Harris at SEA 39. W.Harris to SEA 34 for 5 yards (M.Strong).

by fender on Sep 27, 2009 10:53 AM PDT up reply actions

We had 3 chances to win that game late

And 2 of them had nothing to do with Seneca.

He got us back in the game when Shaun was being useless and the defense let ALEX SMITH tear them apart.

May the Forsett be with you.

by SSreporters on Sep 27, 2009 10:54 AM PDT up reply actions

Hey what can I say

I was spoiled by Matt’s superior two minute offense.

Seneca didn’t have that.

by fender on Sep 27, 2009 10:56 AM PDT up reply actions

I think he can do really well

And I hope he kicks butt today.

I really do like Seneca. My feelings are more about 2005/2006 Hasselbeck and 2005/2006 Seneca.

Seneca did some pretty impressive things last year with some really mediocre recievers.

I think with Carlson and Housh out there he might be able to get it done.

Sure, if that pass had been lower it would have been caught. But receivers aren’t paid to only catch balls thrown right between the 8 and the 0.
