An Extended Middle Finger to the Gatekeepers of Cool...
A while back on my home blog, I suggested that the Seahawks and Bucs wear 1976 throwback unis for the game in Seattle on December 20. I now retract that idea and propose this: TB wears the creamsicle orange, and we wear our lime green. Why?
Frankly, I'm at a point where I just want to piss off the self-appointed fashion police in the national media, and nothing would make their monocles drop into their champagne glasses more quickly than THAT uniform match-up. If it was a snow game? Even better, because that would frak up their little frozen tundra fantasies of old-tyme football.
What do you think, sirs?

hahaha i agree
Their just jerseys and we shouldn’t focus so much on the jerseys even though it’d be nice to see the hawks wear their old uniforms once again. But we gotta focus on winning games not jerseys.

If we're going to go all out on the uniforms . . .
then lets really go for it. Lime green jerseys and pants! The crazier the better.
Question: can anyone guess which college football team I cheer for?

The

More concerned with the Buc's football team than what they wear.

They've been getting stomped.
Not too worried. Josh Johnson looks pretty good but he’s probably just playin until Freeman is ready.

I love...
the old TB “creamsicles.”
I like the lime green, but not the arrangement. I wish the pants had more lime green, perhaps wide the strip on the side and bring it down, as it is it just looks like a high school jersey where the pants and tops don’t match well.

That'd help a lot
All was all prepared to hate the uni’s, but after seeing them live I decided they weren’t that bad. My only real complaint with them was the use of white numbers rather than dark blue – it made it almost impossible to identify players from the stands.
I think if they went with blue numbers, brought the green further out on the sleeves so it had less of a “vest” look, and carried a wider green stripe down the pants, they’d look a lot better.

I agree with the vest look making the jersey bad design.
I like the lime green, but the dark blue around the shoulders and neck does not work. I also think the helmets need to be lime green.

I'm totally not a fan of the "vest look"
I’d be happier if the sleeves were green.

I like the lime green as an accent.
And I think I’d probably like lime green unis if the pants were green/white/silver. Lime top with navy pants looks a little too arena football for me.

I like the bright green,
but as someone else said, use it sparingly, like the Notre Dame Green, or the Georgia all black. Too much of it, and we seem like an UFL or XFL team.

Which is why its our alternate.
We’ll only see it once or twice a season.

Ugh.
That game would look like a matchup of Lime vs Orange Popsicles.

While I love the lime alternates
I would rather see a straight up throwback game when we play the Buccaneers. We are expansion brothers.

I don't think that can happen now
Somewhere in all this uni talk, I’m pretty sure someone posted the NFL’s rule: only one alternate jersey used a maximum of twice during the regular season.
I’ve heard conflicting stuff on the throwbacks – I’ve read that a team has to wait 10 years before bringing them back, and that ours aren’t old enough yet. But then I’ve heard other people say that the original expansion uniforms (big numbers, stripes instead of Hawk on the sleeve) technically pass the 10 year limit.

Im down with this.
Also, in the spirit of 76’, both teams get permission to field players from each original team for special teams.
The only way to make this worse to watch would be seeing AARP members sprinting down the field at each other.

Interestingly, we have a couple unis on the list, including the classic “Hellraiser” jersey, heheh.

Stinky Pujols. Loved it.
JM just wants the neon colors because otherwise there’ll be no game highlights whatsoever.

The Lime green is ok
But I would rather see (and I am sure Seahawk nation does too) the uniforms before the seahawks current style. The silver helmet with the old logo etc. why don’t they ever wear those?

Hey, aren't those creamcicles are back when they had Steve Young?
They are so old they’re now back in style, aren’t they?

I'm a fan of unique.
While I attended one of the many institutions in this fine country nicknamed The Wildcats, I would have vastly preferred if they continued to threaten opponents as The Fighting Methodists, although that may have precluded my matriculation. Apparently Methodists aren’t allowed to fight. Only the Irish.
I like the lime green. It’s different, it’s interesting, and it’s not just a slightly different variation of the same color worn by at least four other teams (but probably more).

Burleson and Branch
Both said they wanted to wear throwbacks.

I don't like lime green - I DO like lime green uniforms.
I can’t quite figure out why, but I really enjoy the splash, or full on dunk, of hyper-intense color for the uniforms. Whether it’s lime green or neon green, count me in! In fact, I wish there was less dark blue. In my imagination I see a mostly lime green/white combo for the torso and legs, with the dark blue helmets (can an alternate uni change helmets?), dark blue piping down the legs and dark blue numbers. Something important to me in a football uniform is how it looks in inclement weather. When soaking wet, and covered in mud and blood, how does it look? I think white and light colors do a better job looking dirty – a big plus for football uniforms.

A big part of why I like exorbitant colors on our uniform is the disgusted, put-down attitude they inspire in announcers, the national media and opponents. I get very defensive and focused when people are dogging the Seahawks. There’s a good quote from the movie Good Will Hunting that mirrors the way I feel when others are attacking the ’Hawks:
Will: He used to just put a belt, a stick, and a wrench on the kitchen table and say, “Choose.”
Sean: Well, I gotta go with the belt there.
Will: I used to go with the wrench.
Sean: Why?
Will: Cause fuck him, that’ why.
To me, picking the over-the-top lime green uni’s is like picking the wrench. Why? Because fuck ‘em, that’s why.
GO ’HAWKS!!

that would be so funny if it actually happened. I could care less about what the media thinks, I like the neon green jerseys.
