Locker tops National Football Post SUPER 30!
While I'm high on Locker, I think he would be better served to play another year under Sark. Having said that, Bradford may be wishing he'd followed Sanchez's lead, and Locker may feel that a year behind Hasselbeck (wishful thinking on my part) may serve him better.
UPDATE: ESPN's Scout's Inc still has Bradford as #1 in their top 32 draft prospects, but Locker is moved up to #7. There is a lot of love for Locker right now, and his performance against Notre Dame tomorrow may go a long way to determining whether he is viewed as the next great franchise QB prospect ala Sanchez, Stafford and a lock for a top 5 pick next April.

I agree Locker would need one more year
and I wouldn’t mind purposely bombing the ’10 season to get him…
I saw that and like the love for Locker.
I think he’ll stay one more year, though. He’d be wise to work on some things…like his passing skills. He’s every bit the prospect Tebow is and more. I think he could be a better pro Quarterback.
Early prospect watch: RB C.J. Spiller, QB Jevan Snead, OT Ciron Black, DT Gerald McCoy, S Eric Berry, DT Ndamukong Suh, CB Ras-I Dowling 6'2, 200, RB Jonathan Dwyer
I have a suspicion that with the uncapped year looming
and all the talk about restructuring rookie salaries, more underclassman than normal will be declaring. I only hope Ruskell relaxes his bias toward seniors and takes a hard look at junior prospects as well. Specifically, Locker and Berry, if they declare, in the first round.
Perusing the list further, I find it more than interesting that there are 6 OT’s on the list, and that doesn’t include a couple guys (Capers and Black) that are listed in most mocks as first round prospects. In fact they aren’t even included in the “just missed the cut” list after the top 30. I think Wes Bunting is basing his evaluations on watching film, and projecting talent to the NFL and not on pre-season hype, or stats, and may be the most legit list I’ve seen. We’ll see next April. Can’t wait.
So wait...
There are people who actually think Jake Locker is better than Tim Tebow?!
I was told this couldn’t be possible because Locker hadn’t achieved as much as Tebow.
I am surprised, though, Locker is ahead of Bradford. To pull that off is a testament to Sark’s system having a positive impact early on in the season. Locker is unquestionably the better athlete, but his overall makeup as a QB has come a long way to pass a guy like Bradford.
Maybe we can take Bruce Campbell with our first pick (hopefully from Denever) and Jake Locker with our second pick (if he decides to leave college).
Or just take Bruce Campbell and Taylor Mays.
Who is Bruce Campbell?

And 'Army of Darkness'
Gimme some sugar baby.
Glenn Beck likes argument, but has a deap-seated hatred for logic.
Shouldn't he be available
a little later, like the 7th round. I mean, I know he’s a bad ass and all, but he’s an OLD badass. I think he’ll fall.
Locker first, then Campbell late.
Mancrushed. Jake Locker for Heisman 2010.

Don't want to see Locker come out this early
For one, I can’t imagine his stock not being higher after next year than this year. He has NO defense and the Huskies will probably finish this season 6-6 or 7-5. His O-line is mediocre. He’s obviously got the tools and is playing heroic football this season, but QB’s with losing records and up and down track records rarely crack the 1st round. Even if the Huskies went on a tear and Locker became a Heisman candidate, people would still question if he was a one-hit wonder on a hot streak, since he did relatively nothing last year.
Next season, there is a decent chance he’ll have an improved O-line, and if lucky, maybe a defense that isn’t truly god-awful. I could see him making a campaign for the Heisman next year with Tebow and Bradford out of the picture, and by posting a 2nd straight very good season with his obvious talent and ceiling, could make a very good case to be a top 10 NFL pick in April of 2011.
Not only that, but Locker needs to stay for UW’s sake. UW is not even close to ready for life after Locker yet, and I think he knows that. So I’d be a little surprised if Locker declared for 2010, and I certainly hope he doesn’t.
I don't disagree with desire to see him play at Husky Stadium next year...but
unless the Huskies have some stud O-lineman squirreled away, what makes you think he’ll have better protection next year? Granted, he should have better chemistry with his young offensive skill players, and they will probably improve overall vs. this year and be even more competitive, but then there is always the chance of injury. Sark is a proven QB coach and it would serve him well to spend another year under his tuteledge, but, there is always the chance of injury. There is no guarantee that next season is better than this season. It is, afterall, a team effort. They competed well against LSU. They took Notre Dame to overtime. They upset USC, and lost to an underrated Stanford team where everyone has forgotten that Jim Harbough is doing a pretty damned good job himself. Most people probably think they’ve overachieved this year given their talent, or lack thereof. If he’s projected as a top 15 pick after this season, and I think he will be based solely on his many physical skills and other qualities, he’ll have a tough decision to make. Your entire argument could have been (and was) made for Sanchez staying at USC. Bradford surprised by staying and now he’s injured, and Oklahoma has lost 2 games. Do you think maybe he regrets that decision? While I’d love for Locker to be leading the Huskies again next year, I’d prefer he was alongside Teel, learning the ropes behind Hasselbeck. If Teel can become the future backup, that 6th round pick was a success.
And on the subject of drafting Locker
I don’t think we’ll be in position to do it. How often do we actually get the player we want the most in the 1st round? Almost never.
Whichever team Locker goes to, that team is going to be my favorite non-Seahawks NFL team. So I’m just hoping and praying that the team that drafts him isn’t AZ, SF or STL, and sadly, those are all distinct possibilities given their current QB situations.
With two first round picks this year
We and San Fran are in the best position. With several other highly touted QB’s probably coming out this year, namely Bradford, Clausen, Pike, Snead and McCoy, I expect 3-4 QB’s to go in each of the first 2 rounds. And I’m not a big fan of using a first round pick on a Safety (Mays or Berry). I’d rather we take a run at O.J. Atogwe if St. Louis doesn’t franchise him again. See my other Fan Post for why I think this makes sense.
