Frye? Frye?

He played 7 games last year. Depth signing. Meh.

Upgrade?

Anyone know much about the guy? Is he that much better than Williams? I liked what I saw of Williams as a BACKUP, and that’s what this new guys is. Also, can the team put Kyle back on PS if he clears waivers (I’m pretty sure they can)?

Williams was pretty terrible last year

He only survived because he had a lot of help. And he needed it.

OK.

The word “terrible” seems to be tossed around alot on this site. Williams was by far not a top tier (or above average for that matter) player last year. He started on the practice squad and was moved up because of injuries. When he saw time in the last four games , he did not give up a bunch of sacks, he held his own, and he did so with very little experience (as even a backup) in the NFL.

The guy was a solid (practice squad) BACKUP, not a full time starter yet. If Frye has the look of a part-time starter, or even full-time starter then it is a great move (I doubt it though). UDFA don’t usually lite the world on fire, and Williams is in that boat, but given some time he may make a solid backup (for some team) in a few years.

From what I saw of him late last year he didn't quite look awful.

Not that I was paying that much attention. But that all-backup offensive line seemed to do OK considering the situation.

Sando says it looks like an upgrade of the depth

Brett Favre is the Kenny Powers of football.

Sounds like a better fit than Williams..

for this particular offense. I know very little about the dude, but what little I’ve read suggests he’s more versatile than Williams and possesses traits more conducive to the ZBS.
