Indeed
Alex Gibbs is the man who said, and I paraphrase, “I can take a garbage man off the street and make him a guard”. I doubt OL will get much focus in early round one discussions now. And this may decrease the liklihood of Spiller coming.
It is what it is...
Duane Brown was selected in the first round of the 2008 draft.

And Houston traded up to, I 28th, I believe, to make that selection. I may be wrong, but Locklear seems a good fit for Gibbs. That and Duane Brown’s game reminds me of Locklear’s. But I digress. I like the hire.

Why would we "Scratch Left Tackle Off Your Wishlist" then?
If anything, I would say Charles Brown is about to be a Seahawk.

Yes, it does seem stupid now
I was thinking Locklear is a good fit, and there would be no need to reach for OL in the draft. You know me well enough to realize I am a a sporadic thinker. Creates dumb moments such as these.

Not trying to toss you shit
I just didn’t understand the inference.

No worries my man
I’m much better with feedback when I’m sober. Stupid or no, I do love Gibbs as a hire. Give me hope of some level of continuity.

Love Gibbs
Seattle just added one of the great all-time position coaches and at a position where “coaching up” actually happens.

How would this impact Spencer/Sims?
If Gibbs can turn a garbage man into a guard, and Unger sticks at Center (maybe too much of an assumption) how does that impact re-signing Sims and Spencer. Spencer in particular is wrapping up a 1st round rookie contract and is the more expensive of the two. Do you think they both stay or go?
using all the analysis John and others have done here I'd say that
Spencer is perfect for a zone blocking scheme and would likely flourish under a master like Gibbs. Sims and Unger are good-great fits for a zone blocking scheme. Ray Willis is likely not starting week 1 as he lacks the quickness and speed to be effective in a ZBS.

Things that I hope that this signing means:
-A balanced offense
-An upright Hasselbeck
-Holes. Real ones.
-The resurrection of John Carlson as a pass-catching tight end
-Max Unger playing like an All-Pro under his (relatively) cheap contract
-The quelling of the name “Steve Hutchinson” from any and all Seahawks broadcasts
-Technique/training enough on the line to avoid hearing “decimated” and “offensive line” mentioned every 10 minutes
-Deviation from the traditional Seahawks optimistically-run-into-the-back-of-the-O-line-for-no-gain strategy
-Redemption of Chris Spencer from the clutches of bust-dom
-A top 10 run game
-………….
-Profit
Come on. You don't like the Run-Run-Pass-Punt offense?

I believe in football terms
It’s noted as the No Gain-Sack-Desperate Incompletion-Punt if it’s not an INT/fumble offense.

I'm stoked that Gibbs is here
However I’m worried a that it could be a short stay. He turns 70 in 2011, and his last two NFL jobs were short: 2 years in Texas and 1 year in Atlanta (with 2 years as “consultant”), with a year off in between. If Gibbs is going to make a difference here, he’ll have to do it quickly. I’m optimistic he can.
Isn't Gibbs here to teach our coachs
I thought that I read that Gibbs helped PC at USC by teaching his coachs the ZBS. Maybe he is here to teach Solari
The future is looking better
Nope. Solari's gone.
O’Neil says he was offered tight ends coach, and turned it down.
