FG Podcast: Slow News Day
A more mellow Field Gulls Podcast for an after the flood Seahawks franchise. I talk a little about the direction of the franchise, why Pete Carroll must avoid a win-now mentality, and my reservations regarding Sam Bradford.

Great job, John!
I agree that I want to see the team going in the right direction and not just treading in the waters of mediocrity.

Really good podcast
I’m assuming that you’d want us to take Clausen at #6 if he is available. But if he isn’t: would you want to take Bradford at #6? Or #14? What if we didn’t take a quarterback at #6, and neither Clausen nor Bradford were available at #14 — who then?
Anyway, really enjoyed it, and wish you’d do one every week.
Seahawks-4-Life
If none of those guys are available
I’d go defense picking a guy like Derrick Morgan or Eric Berry.

Perhaps beause of my FG indocrination...
…I wouldn’t go for defense with any of the top 3 picks. We need a QB, an OT, and a playmaker on offense more than any defensive player.
Seahawks-4-Life
But even though our D is actually pretty good.
Most positions can still be upgraded and if it’s a D player at #6 that’s the BPA then pick him. Eric Berry, Geralk McCoy, Joe Haden, and Derrick Morgan are all possible game changing defensive players, and regardless of need, if they’re availbale you pick them. We still have two more picks in the top 40 to find offensive players.
Also a die-hard Hawks fan.

This sucks...
For some reason, I can’t EVER get FG Podcasts on the player (embedded above), or in the download version (it times out). I have yet to hear a single…. what do we call these?…. episode?
Bring Your Game, Leave Your Name.
Definitely NOT the computer.
I’m running a brand new MacBook Pro. The problem has got to be with the network here in Khon Kaen Thailand.
Bring Your Game, Leave Your Name.
And I'm still pissed several hours later....
I feel like New Kids In the Hall….

Have you ever been to India?
Just out of curiosity.
Talents that I covet:
Ndamukong Suh, Gerald McCoy, Sam Bradford, Mike Iupati, Golden Tate, Earl Thomas, and Freddie Barnes

I am there frequently...
Arvin Mills is one one our bigger suppliers.
Bring Your Game, Leave Your Name.
I am thinking about visiting there.
Is there a lot of open countryside in the northeast region of India? I get the feeling I might try and hike up somewhere near the Himalayas.

It's hard for me to say without seeing it.
If you email it to me I can try and post it.

John, I agree with on many of your points.
You have mentioned that the Seahawks should get a quarterback this year and then maybe CJ Spiller with their first round picks.
With the idea of getting players that are going to be good when the Seahawks are going to be good again shouldn’t we draft a running back a year or two after a quarterback? Since running backs have shorter shelf life.
What do you think about getting two raw talent pieces in the draft this year like Jason Pierre-Paul and then trying to draft Jake Locker after another bad season?
We'd have to be pretty bad to get Jake Locker
I wouldn’t ever bank on next years draft pick, you just never know where we’ll end up, but I think we’ll manage more then one or two wins.

Tanking an entire season seems like a bad idea
Honestly – we should manage at least two wins against the Rams. That’s enough to most likely keep us away from Locker.
Assuming Locker is #1 overall material.
