Senior Bowl - Open Thread
I re-watched the National Title Game last night. Lamarr Houston has become one of my favorite picks in the draft. He was the heart of a Longhorns defense that kept a beaten team in an otherwise lost game. He plays tackle like a defensive end and has great interior pass rush potential.
Seattle should upgrade its talent at defensive tackle. In the short term, Houston could replace Craig Terrill. Already 300 lbs, and as svelte a 300 pound man is ever going to look, Houston will grow into a defensive tackle's frame as he ages. Just as his body reaches maturity, so should his game.
Houston is inconsistent and often slow off the line. He flashed a swim move, but mostly attempts to push off and run around blockers. Houston learned his skills as a defensive end, and the experience hinders and helps him. He has some nasty tackling problems too, but he's quick, agile, strong, determined, prototypically built, young, healthy and hungry. Houston goes by 33. See if you can spot him.

My preference for football watching this weekend goes something like this.
Senior bowl > Not watching anything > Peewee football > Televised coverage of frisbee golf > ProBowl.
I am hoping to see good things out of Zac Robinson
He could be a mid-round steal.

However, I am in a wedding tonight so watching it on dvr while hung over is my plan
Not a bad one if you ask me.

Zac Robinson
looked the best out of all QB’s in my opinion. Sean Canfield was a close second.

That play just cost him one draft spot.

I can't put my finger on who he reminds me of.
Someone who can’t cover but can definitely knock you senseless.

Sam Young has looked good against Brandon Lang
Let’s see if Swenson can have a better kickoff or if he is just another Coutu.

Mayock is awesome.

Good job by Iupati on the pass block

I haven’t seen him separate. He definitely has requisite force off the snap to be a nose a tackle, though.
If he was a dirtbag do you think Mora wouldn't hate him?

They have a terrible pass rush.
I think they need an end.

Give me a break
The North did nothing to force that fumble, it was just a ridiculously bad snap. It took little talent for the defense to score on that play

What a terrible pump fake by Canfield.
Brian Russell would bite on play-action despite the QB being in an empty backfield.
Canfield looks a lot like Bulger/Hasselbeck
You can definitely see how he would succeed with strong protection and how he would shrivel under pressure.
Good, strong run by Blount. Move that pile.

Canfield is lost out there

Yeah, ugly pass
Mays has been getting a lot of crap for passing those picks up trying to light up the receiver.
I dislike Mays as much as the next person
but even with the ball thrown to him, you still assume he would go for the big hit

I wish there was less desire for a big back / small back combination.
The Thunder and Lightning thing, you know. It’s more a product of broadcast football than anything else. Why limit yourself with two niche runners and essentially tip your hand depending on which is in the backfield.
OH he's plenty fast. And has moves and has power.
