I wish he woulda worked out
But it’s clear he cannot make this team a winning one any time soon.
Though they sink through the Sea, they shall rise again...Death shall have no dominion...
WOW
I wasn’t a fan of Mora at all but the timing of this is weird. Guess their GM selection didn’t want him?
So, do the assistants still have a job?
I just won $!0. Let’s hope that they’re deliberately being vague about the timing involved in GM interviews, too.
Good news
but the Hawks really have to stop making decisions for an unnamed GM. This is just needlessly taking away options from the new FO.
Well not really.
This just shows the new GM that he is going to be able to do what he wants.

A lot of people I know think it's never a good idea to fire a coach after only one season
But when that coach shows no leadership ability at all, I see no reason to continue. Good move Seahawks!
It's usually hard to prove you're not cut out for a job after one season
but Mora did an awfully good job of that.
Can't say I'm disappointed, or suprised.
I think the team quit on him, though I really did wish it worked out. I was SOOO excited when I heard his vision for the future of the Seahawks on KJR last year when he did his first head coach interview.
Then reality set in.
Good move, it was a time for change.

Crazy.
I’m stunned… Obviously this season sucked and Mora was part of the reason… but after 1 season? Wow.
Someone is apparently fairly serious about rebuilding.
I’m surprised they didn’t give him one more year, but maybe that was shaping up as a lame duck year anyway. I wonder if one of the GM candidates as a bead on a major coaching candidate. The timing’s strange.
But I’m not disappointed.

leslie frazier!
bayless leaves over my dead body
Start Bayless (in a 2 guard lineup)
if you should strike Oden down he will become more powerful than you can possibly imagine

As per ESPN:
“Once Mora was fired, the Seahawks called the Minnesota Vikings to seek permission to interview defensive coordinator Leslie Frazier, the source told Clayton.”

Well we do need to interview one "minority" candidate.
by Scruffy Lefty on Jan 8, 2010 11:25 AM PST up reply actions
Exactly.
And Frazier is the minority candidate ‘bitch’ for lack of a better term. Many teams interview him, none have offered HC jobs.
I think he'll get a HC job this season though
What we've got here is a failure to communicate.

In case you don't believe Glazer
Dave Mahler on KJR apparently got a text message from Mora confirming that he had been fired.
I guess that's what happens when, you know, you say that, you know, Hasselbeck will be your QB for next year, you know.
Not that it matters now, but he said that?

He said that their goal was
to have Hasselbeck and Housh run a million plays together and get in better sync.
Though they sink through the Sea, they shall rise again...Death shall have no dominion...
That was from his end of year press conference on Wednesday.
Complete with about 500 “you know”s. He was asked if he saw Matt Hasselbeck as his quarterback in September, he said yes.
Holy Crap!
I’ve been wondering if they have asked prospective GMs their thoughts on Mora during that process (probably not Keim).
Same thing I was thinking.
Maybe that “GM will join the Seahawks Organization, not vice versa” comment wasn’t as important as we all thought it was.
If the Seahawks are down to their final four GM candidates, and all of them say they’ll get rid of Mora, then there’s no point in keeping him, is there?
Joining the Seahawks Organization just means they're coming here to make the team as good as it can be
Rather then doing it for only personal gain and accolades. I wouldn’t read anything into it beyond that. It’s just one of those things corporations say. It doesn’t mean the people who are here are safe.

We don't.
We get his young OC instead. Mmm..fresh meat untainted the harsh realities of the NFL

Well, maybe he can be OC for us.
Is he qualified enough as a leader of men? We saw a lack of that from Mora and I’d hate a repeat.
I know that we changed head coaches last year and he stayed...
But this could also mean that Bruce DeHaven will soon be gone.
Is it possible they've hired a GM?
informally, and are just holding off on the announcement till after the playoffs?
They may want to consider GMs and candidates for GM that are with other teams sill in contention.
We’d have to wait in that case.
I'm just wondering
if they might have already worked something out, behind closed doors. Hoping, actually…
He's was married to the neighbor girl two houses down from where I grew up. Not sure if they are still hitched.
It would be cool to have a wedding in Safeco Field the way they did.
Wow!
If the team had shown the enthusiasm in the 1st quarter of about 10 of their games that I have right now, we’d have at least been 8-8!
The first quarter and the first drive – that’s on the coach. And they looked uninterested and boring all season.
I was a proponent of giving Ruskell and Mora another year
But with Ruskell gone it really didn’t seem to make any sense to let ‘his guy’ stick around, particularly when his guy performed so poorly. Losing to Tampa Bay at home was galling. The team had completely given up on Mora. And Mora seemed to have given up too. His challenges in the Tennessee game were stupid and left us with only 1 timeout in a game decided by 1 score. Punting in the other team’s half. Field goals from 4th and goal from the 2 (for example…not sure this happened exactly). Good Riddance to Jim Mora and bring on the new blood!
conversation I just had with my wife
“you get a free burger from red robin for your birthday next week”……..“and the Seahawks just fired Jim Mora, this day couldn’t get any better”.
the second part was me
that didn’t come across well. either way I’ll dedicate my free burger at a crappy establishment to the next Seahawks coach who won’t make me vomit every Sunday.

What's wrong with Red Robin.
Had lunch there yesterday. Given the fact that a damn super sized extra value meal costs only 3 dollars less, I’d rather have bottomless steak fries and a great burger…
Do they give free b-day burgers though? I didn’t realize this. I thought they just sang to you. Someone clue me in here…
