That's right guys. Terrill's back.

Does this reflect on our key defensive injuries? Well, Aaron Curry participated fully and is ready to go, Brandon Mebane was limited "but did all right", Marcus Trufant did not practice and is a game-time decision, Sean Locklear did not practice but is good to go, Chris Clemons was a full participant, Russell Okung is "ready to play".

Has it really been that quick?

Seems like more of a plod from grace.

Well, yeah...

If by “quick” you mean like the way an old lady in a walker crosses a 6 lane intersection.

You can't just acquire grace.

Grace is something you have…or you don’t.

Bigger LB tease: Hill or Anthony Simmons?

Simmons.

More talent, but less contribution already than Hill. Injuries, attitude. He could have been a rich man’s Lance Briggs.

Hey, what did I do?

Oh yeah, I hear that the Seahawks are going to sign Brian Russell too…..or trade Brandon Mebane fr him if B-Russ is still playing for somebody. WE NEED HIS VETERAN LEADERSHIP!!!

You should have never shortened Roethlisberger's suspension to 4 games

Just because he didn’t rape anyone in the last month doesn’t mean he should get a reward. You still have time to suspend the doofus for another 2 weeks for no reason.

by Cheddar28 on Oct 1, 2010 1:26 PM PDT reply actions

Is Terrill bigger this year?

1. Insert obligatory, shirt-tearing wail about how the Seahawks staff is complacently hanging onto lousy talent (disregarding their 200 personnel moves in the past year).

2. Question: Until this season, I’ve been outside of the Seahawks’ TV market, so I don’t have a longitudinal point of reference, but when I saw Terrill during the preseason this year, he seemed stouter—slower, bigger, maybe more effective at the point but less effective as a pass rusher—than previously. Did anyone else notice this, or am I wrong about this?

by dagraham on Oct 1, 2010 1:27 PM PDT reply actions

This one?

7,500 USD for taunting after getting a game-time penalty for that too?

What’s ridiculous about it?

by Thomas Beekers on Oct 1, 2010 1:31 PM PDT up reply actions

Because the so-called "taunting" was taking off his helmet and "pointing skyward".

He was doing it for that friend of his who died.. That’s not excessive at all. It’s not his fault the NFL is desperate to fine players for no apparent reason.

by Coach Owens on Oct 1, 2010 1:34 PM PDT up reply actions

And so we have reached the end of Leroy Hill's Seahawk career

All that is left is for the Seahawks to void Hill’s contract after the season….and I don’t think Q/PM would be in any rush to resign him afterward, considering how they banned him training camp earlier this season.

Well, that’s one less holdover from Super Bowl XL on the active roster. Bummer.

by J.L. White on Oct 1, 2010 1:31 PM PDT reply actions

Hill's contract was renegotiated

The final years have already been voided. He is a FA after this year.

I guess they might release him from IR on a settlement later. We’ll see.

by Thomas Beekers on Oct 1, 2010 1:32 PM PDT up reply actions

I would put money on him signing with an NFC West team too.

Thats how this usually works. Fortunately he will never be healthy enough to play.

by Big E-Z on Oct 1, 2010 1:34 PM PDT up reply actions

Oops, totally forgot about that

Jeez, probably a big mistake by Hill to do that (at least in retrospect).

by J.L. White on Oct 1, 2010 1:47 PM PDT up reply actions

To be fair

Hill hasn’t exactly shown a facility for making wise decisions.

I don’t think we would be interested but this staff has surprised me once or twice.

What, sign him to a book deal?

Do we really need a sequel to The Blind Side?

(Yes, I know the 49er safety has the same name.)

by J.L. White on Oct 1, 2010 4:17 PM PDT up reply actions

Dunno, do we need him?

Contrary to common NN belief, we have had no particular interest in signing former Ninnies (though for the ones we did, two out of the total three worked out p good). I guess we could sign Lewis since I don’t think our SS depth is that solid.

Still, I’m just enjoying watching the Niners fall apart even more. Good times.

Whatever.

My main beef with Terrill was that he left on the roster while younger, better talent was let go. That’s not the case here, so welcome back!

by MFAN on Oct 1, 2010 4:51 PM PDT reply actions

Agreed

That roster spot would have just gone to another temp, so the worst-case scenario is that we might have had a better temp over the course of a few weeks.

I don’t seem to know as much about Terrill as everyone else here, but apparently he’s big and slow (the roster on NFL.com lists him at 295, by the way).

On that note, it seems that Bradley & Quinn have done better work this year in exploiting Colin Cole as the “defensive pivot point”, i.e., the run-stopping mass who’s not expected to move at speed toward the quarterback. But the biggest guys get the tiredest fastest. There are only 3 DTs listed without Terrill, which means they were one injury away from not being able to rotate, so the addition at position (if not the person) makes sense.

by Jason_D on Oct 2, 2010 1:05 PM PDT up reply actions

Terrill usually plays the 3-tech

the lighter of the two DTs in a standard 4-3. He’s not the fattest of fat guys on our DL.

Cole has been asked to be more of a 2-gap player this year, rather than a penetrating 1-gap DT, which seems to play to his strength.

by Greetings from the Lord Humongous! on Oct 2, 2010 1:53 PM PDT up reply actions

I wouldn't be surprised to see Terrill cut again when Mebane is 100%

Makes sense to IR Hill especially considering the looming suspension even if he was healthy he was going to miss games.

by Scruffy Lefty on Oct 1, 2010 6:37 PM PDT reply actions

By the way

I’m pretty sure we still have an open roster spot, and did not in fact need to IR Hill to sign Terrill, strictly speaking.

I guess we’re still going to sign Gibson off of PS.

by Thomas Beekers on Oct 1, 2010 6:48 PM PDT reply actions

We sure are lucky that Terrill wasn't snatched right up as a FA.

Good thing no one has even bothered to give him a workout, we know he’ll be fresh!
