Seahawks and Dolphins among first teams to espress interest in claiming Moss
Via Judd Zulgad's twitter. Not surprising after we tried really hard to get Jackson and Marshall.

If we get Randy, great.
But I’m not sure who will throw to him. Can any of our running backs pass the ball deep? Hmmmm.

This is not a knock on Butler -- Hasselbeck overthrew him --
but we’d probablyat least have doubled our win probability with Moss there for Hasselbeck.
Agreed.
I guess I’m just trying to make the point that Moss would transform this offense with current personnel. A lot of people doubt that because of the QB and line. Those would remain problematic but it’s all relative like a bowling ball on a semen-stained mattress, or whatever the scientific analogy is. A poor offense could mire him in the clay like in Oakland, but I believe it would work with this Bates offense and this personnel.
Lots of the FG introspection that goes on, about how we interact as a community and the friendliness and whatnot, possibly is searching for nuggets like this here. Rather than just say, I think he’d transform the offense moderately, I wrap it in some glib comment for people to read between the lines about what I am trying to say. I think part of that comes from the culture and the community, and I adjust my tone accordingly. Just a thought.
I think it can work with Whitehurst, but Hasselbeck wouldn't be able to throw mid-range or deep...
…at least with any significant degree of consistency. The line allowing for deeper routes can also easily be questioned.
Keeping Randy from St.Louis could be another win, even if we can’t fully take advantage of Moss’ best asset.

Sir you are correct, sir.
Hopefully Randy tells the Rams to kiss his balls – “I ain’t playin’ for you”. “I’ll retire!”

Brady was already great, and Welker made 2007 at least as much as Moss did,
so I won’t overstate his impact. He definitely couldn’t do the same thing for Hasselbeck. But Hasselbeck could throw to him mid range & deep. Not 40 yards + deep. But he can get the ball to receivers. Just not very fast. The height, the reach and the vertical separation that Moss is able to achieve even without the same speed he once had would still cushion Hasselbeck’s throws from some INTs.

With Hass having a concussion in the last game...
the team could easily not “clear” him for the next game and start Whitehurst. If Whitehorse has a good game, then they can keep him as a starter. If he has a poor game, they can bring back Hass and say they are glad he’s able to play again.
The team doesn’t have to worry about a public relations nightmare because they are “protecting” Hass, and they get to try out Whitehurst.
As much as I want CW starting, the Giants might not be the best game to begin.
