Yeah, I've never seen anything remotely impressive about McElroy.
I’m not sure he’s even planning a pro career. He’s applying for a Rhodes Scholarship.

I think we're both a little desperate for young blood.
by John Morgan on Nov 26, 2010 12:12 PM PST up reply actions
Agreed. I have taken a breather since my temper tantrum last Sunday.
Time is my friend.
It is what it is...
No effin way
McElroy wont be an starting NFL QB

Pain don't hurt...
Maybe so...
But one never knows… heck the Lions hung with the Pats for a while yesterday…
Lots of talent and lots of young talent: Lions are building the right way.
Could be one of the contenders of the next decade if Stafford steps up.

The SEC has some great receivers this year.
Pretty sure Julio was the worst of that bunch they just showed.
Newton has a lot to prove, because right now it looks like his shit won't work in the pros.
He looks less elusive than Vince Young.
One, incomplete.
Looks like the strategy is drop coverage and spy Newton and allow everything else.
by John Morgan on Nov 26, 2010 12:26 PM PST up reply actions
Very well.
Greg Williams said he’s the best player on the defense (think I heard that right)

Lucky for Auburn.
I hate that touchback rule.
This wooden soul of mine, it cannot ever climb from places it has fallen: In between where light can shine. It never falls in line, it barely has a spine, like branches severed from the vine. Like it was faulty by design.
I told my high school guidance counselor that very same thing.
by John Morgan on Nov 26, 2010 12:35 PM PST up reply actions
I wonder if this continues, will Newton get crushed by the media as much as Locker did after Nebraska
I haven't heard anyone saying Cam is going to be a top ten pick.
Locker was the consensus number one pick going into the year.
You mean if Newton duplicates Locker's performance or Auburn loses?
Because if Newton goes 4/20 71 yards, two picks and a touchdown, that it will definitely raise some some red flags.
by John Morgan on Nov 26, 2010 12:49 PM PST up reply actions
For sure.
I looked through most of the quarterbacks selected in the first round over the last five years, and that was a pretty abnormally bad performance.
by John Morgan on Nov 26, 2010 12:53 PM PST up reply actions
.. and Locker now has three of roughly that quality.
by John Morgan on Nov 26, 2010 12:54 PM PST up reply actions
I think the Senior Bowl is going to determine his draft status
He performance and practices up to his potential and he will go in the low teens or better.
He lays an egg and he will drop
Depends a lot on who else declares.
But it’s still hard to see Locker out of the first round. He’s just too damn talented.
by John Morgan on Nov 26, 2010 12:59 PM PST up reply actions
And now we can just about put that possibility to rest.
by John Morgan on Nov 26, 2010 12:57 PM PST up reply actions
Does that make it forgivable?
Seems like Locker gets a pass when his run game struggles. So now he gets a pass when Washington can run too?
When we were dominating we stopped calling passes.
The ones he did throw early were questionable.
We have good backs, but the line stinks. The line is effect the run and pass games.
In which they will lose by a 100 points to Oregon.
by John Morgan on Nov 26, 2010 12:55 PM PST up reply actions
The other part of the master plan is Oregon loses to Arizona.
And LSU shreds TCU for Les Miles’ second national championship trophy.
Think LSU would shred TCU?
I rather like the Horned Frogs.
by John Morgan on Nov 26, 2010 12:57 PM PST up reply actions
This is like a J. Jones NFL tryout
Having him return a punt is clearly an attempt to say, look what I can do.
Darn, the one year the SEC has a QB worth a damn
He’s not going to the national championship game.
LSU would get destroyed by Oregon or TCU. Jordan Jefferson is possibly one of the worst QBs in the nation.

Everyone now flip to Colorado-Nebraska and think back 10+ years to when Colorado had a program worth caring about.
Kordell Stewart, WR Brian Westbrook and Rashaan Salaam all were destined for NFL greatnes……..oh wait.
Oh yeah it was Michael Westbrook, and then there was also a CB named Michael Westbrook in the NFL
I should be able to remember better as he was the guy Seattle was debating taking, along with Galloway, but the Redskins made it all moot. Kinda like Trent Williams/Okung this year.
Even with NoScript I can't find a way to block the stupid Captain Cola ads.
I suffer from IBS, otherwise known as "Influx of Billick Syndrome".
La Canfora says Marv is probably out (shocker)
And the Bengals might release Carson Palmer at season’s end.
I’m not sure they’d cut ties with Carson that quickly but they’re definitely in the running to get Luck. Carolina doesn’t need a QB, right?
I suffer from IBS, otherwise known as "Influx of Billick Syndrome".
If only we'd kept Nick Reed
Instant trade-up material.
I suffer from IBS, otherwise known as "Influx of Billick Syndrome".
I don't think we will be able to get Luck, Mallet, Locker or Newton
We are looking at Moore or sombody like him unless we trade up
Yep
Maybe Newton drops based on only one season starting big time college and possible character issues, but the other three will be gone by about 12.
That'd be the most quarterbacks taken in the first round since 2004.
And you have them all going in the top 20.
There are 8 or 9 teams ahead of us who need QB help
Maybe not all four, but I would guess three of them are drafted.
Luck and Mallett might not even declare.
It’s not impossible that they all go in the first but there looks to be a lot of talent in this draft that could push some of those guys down.
Both have 4-5 seniors on the line in front of them
And it would be tough for either one to raise their stock much more in a season. They have seen what happened to Locker. I would bet just about anything that they both declare.
I can't see Luck not declaring
He’s the consensus #1 QB right now and he’s seen what’s happened to guys like Colt McCoy, Jevan Snead and Jake Locker.

You're implying then that all of them are going to be picked in the top 20
I suffer from IBS, otherwise known as "Influx of Billick Syndrome".
whats the value
of the hawks 1st and 2nd rounders combined (assuming our draft position will be somewhere around #20)
it that enough to trade up to top 5 in the 1st round?
Locker --> Seahawks = Superbowl
by SeahawksPhan on Nov 26, 2010 1:26 PM PST up reply actions
We can always try to trade up
I’m sure we could find a way to get into the top 5 if there’s a guy we really want.
by Greetings from the Lord Humongous! on Nov 26, 2010 1:30 PM PST up reply actions
We have no first round talent to give away.
I suffer from IBS, otherwise known as "Influx of Billick Syndrome".
The FO has shown they're willing to spend for QB talent
If there’s a guy they really want, I wouldn’t rule out a 1st, a 2nd and a future 1st.
by Greetings from the Lord Humongous! on Nov 26, 2010 1:32 PM PST up reply actions
Okay I see it
You’re suggesting they would trade future picks to trade up.
I suffer from IBS, otherwise known as "Influx of Billick Syndrome".
And I wouldn't rule out punting on a QB this year
(taking a late-rounder or two) if they don’t see a guy they want.
by Greetings from the Lord Humongous! on Nov 26, 2010 1:35 PM PST up reply actions
Seattle is going to have to trade up if it wants any chance of a top QB this year.
More teams seem to be entering the QB lottery each week.
I kinda hope Carson has a resurgence
But he’s gotten progressively worse. It’s not just the injuries that explain his bad play, he can’t read defenses properly.
Fitzpatrick better keep his play up so it takes Buffalo out of the running.
I suffer from IBS, otherwise known as "Influx of Billick Syndrome".
Outside of Luck I'm not sure there is a top tier QB worth caring about.
And theres no way they get Luck. Should start looking at the Gabberts and Devlins of the draft at this point.
Newton?

As a top tier QB or as part of the Gabberts and Devlins of the world.
I don’t think he fits what Carroll wants out of a QB either way.
Fairly sure Gabbert goes back to Mizzou

This may be a very ignorant question, but why are there so many BIG receivers these days and no BIG cornerbacks.
6’1 about tops the cornerback spectrum. Is this because if you are that big and talented, you are better utilized as being a receiver?
Nebraska WR all kinds of pushed off
but nice HB option pass by the Nubs.

Noodle arm stick of a quarterback thats exceled against lesser competition.
Yeah, they’re nothing alike.
He's built like a skinny Drew Brees
by Greetings from the Lord Humongous! on Nov 26, 2010 2:14 PM PST up reply actions
Does every 6-foot QB have Brees' upside?
I don’t know much about Moore specifically, but being a successful QB on a successful college team doesn’t qualify someone for being an NFL QB.
by Greetings from the Lord Humongous! on Nov 26, 2010 2:18 PM PST up reply actions
there have been plenty of succesful 6-0 QB's
he’s certainly accurate enough (71.8% completion percentage). Being a successful QB on a successful team can’t hurt.
Graham Harrell was pretty accurate.

Tough to get an accurate height on someone that wasn't drafted.
Listed heights in the NFL are a little more accurate than listed heights in the WWF.
Vick, Garcia, and Seneca have athletic scrambling ability
Moore hasn’t shown much of it.

I didn't expect Tate to explode on the league, but damn has this season been a disappointment.

Yeah, thought we'd be devastating on punt returns this year after that first big game

no doubt... Auburn plays a tougher schedule...
which is why if they go undefeated they’ll be playing for the national championship
But the rationale was goofy
when TCU beat #5 Utah by 100 points, wasn’t that by definition a higher hurdle than a win over #11 Alabama?

No chance to bet against Bob Stoops in a BCS bowl game.

Why can’t anyone stop an option anymore? One of these defensive coordinators should go dig up the corpse of Woody Hayes.
