it’s just that the team went on such a downhill stride, and legitimately looks worse that last year’s team. We can say it’s the talent, but he’s responsible for that too, and he sent away a lot of young guys.

Don't ever blame the D when the offense is this fucking bad...

Hasseltoss is losing this game. The D is constantly at a disadvantage with an offense throwing the ball away. the 2 (O and D) go hand and hand, so when your offense sucks most games, your Defense suffers massively.

by BlueThruAndThru on Dec 12, 2010 2:53 PM PST reply actions

Doesn't seem to bug the Steelers.

They just shrug and smack someone in the mouth.

by Brandon8 on Dec 12, 2010 2:55 PM PST up reply actions

But if your defense sucks then the offense will have to keep throwing the ball

And when Hasselbeck sucks like he does then that is a recipe for disaster

If we somehow win this game I'll hate having to hear about how Hasselbeck gritted out a victory for us

Even though it would have been the equivalent of Matt shoving us off the sidewalk into heavy traffic, and then pulling us back at the last second and claiming that he saved us from getting hit by a car! Hero!

by Savage Seahawk fan on Dec 12, 2010 2:59 PM PST reply actions

Smart, conservative play

The linemen were running down to block for a screen. Better to throw it incomplete and punt on 4th & 11 than get flagged for illegal man downfield and be stuck with 3rd & 16. It’s a veteran move.

In a year, maybe three at most, Hasselbeck won’t be our quarterback.

In fifteen years, we’ll have a whole new roster.

Within a century, you’ll be dead.

In ~ 500 million years, the sun will evolve to a cycle that makes the Earth uninhabitable.

In ~ 5 billion years, the sun will go red giant and fry the Earth completely.

by John Morgan on Dec 12, 2010 3:37 PM PST up reply actions

Decline by Hass (I guess, he sucked before the season and sucks now), Tats, Tru, etc.

Think of how bad they would be if they actually quit on Carroll, which, it seems, they haven’t done yet.

by Coach Owens on Dec 12, 2010 3:39 PM PST up reply actions

I think the immediate future is bleak.

But I also think if we can get a couple of good drafts under us (which Schneider gives me every confidence of doing) we can get back into it in a couple of years.

That & instant replay.

The same instant replay they used the day my first son was born when those same three assholes rolled into town with a star on their heads instead of a Jet & stole another game after Keyshawn’s entire fucking arm was clearly out of the back of the endzone on the game winning TD pass thrown by Vinny & called by Bill.

Also the same instant replay they used in XL.

So Yeah I fucking hate all three & the Jets with a passion because thats where it all started at least with those 3 & instant replay.

Plus Tony Romo has made up for that game as far as Dallas is concerned in my mind. Tony Romo my favorite Seahawk that was technically never a Seahawk.

John Hancock

by mrcoffee1969 on Dec 12, 2010 4:13 PM PST up reply actions

There is absolutely no point

in winning either of those games. Winning the playoff race puts us in a position to play one postseason game, and lose it badly. Losing improves our draft position. Meh. Let’s win the winnable games, and if we make it we make it. But let’s put our main focus on training a proper team for the future.

I was pissed about the game when I got home.

Even if Hasselbeck doesn't gift wrap that game, Gus Bradley did not look prepared to call this game.

I dislike Matt very much after this game.

I’m curious to see how his supporters will defend that performance. Awful just awful. Against a GOOD team… I’ll accept it but still be pissed. Against the 9er’s who were missing a lot of key players as well….. Unacceptable.

by grips on Dec 12, 2010 4:13 PM PST reply actions

I have been a Matt fan for a long time.

I was a huge Krieg fan as well though so take it as you may. Matt looked like he was preempting the rush, spinning to scramble before it was really there, looking to dump it after one check & his spin on the ball was amongst his worst games ever.

It is what it is.

We need a QB in the Draft next year 1st round or not we need one to be ready to start every week by at the very latest 2012.

by EyeoftheHawk on Dec 12, 2010 4:24 PM PST reply actions

I think I see PC's end game here.

Keep starting Matt, broken hand and all, terrible play and all, because he can do so without taking too much crap, plus it guarantees a top ten draft pick and a shot at one of the premier QBs in next years draft.

At this point, I don’t see any other explanation.

by Hawksince77 on Dec 12, 2010 4:39 PM PST up reply actions

He's in a tight spot.

Matt, even after today, will have a lot of supporters (as Hugh Millen shows). If Carroll benches him for Whitehurst and the Seahawks miss the playoffs, he’ll be hated by a ton of fans. If Carroll keeps him as a starter and the Seahawks miss the playoffs, he’ll be hated by a ton of fans.

by Coach Owens on Dec 12, 2010 4:41 PM PST up reply actions

Interesting analysis by Millen

Summary: really bad routes by the receivers, and Hasselbeck has to see that and adjust.

Basically, everyone sucked.

by surfmonkey89 on Dec 12, 2010 4:26 PM PST reply actions

Of course Millen found a way to blame someone other than Hasselbeck.

And surprise, he’s still talking out his ass about receiver routes.

by Nate Dogg on Dec 12, 2010 4:30 PM PST up reply actions

Not really

He blamed everyone, including Hasselbeck for throwing the passes.

How is he talking out his ass about receiver routes? He sure seemed very clear in why they were bad, and in the case of Butler & the pick play he sounds correct. Not sure about the seam route to the TE, but it seemed reasonable.

by surfmonkey89 on Dec 12, 2010 4:33 PM PST up reply actions

I think Mack had a good point about that, though...

in that we’re running an all-substitute receiving corps, and we can’t just assume it’ll be the same as having Mike and Ben in there. If you’re throwing to Ruvell Martin, you’ve got to adjust the play calling accordingly. (i.e. call simpler plays that don’t require a veteran)

As God is my witness, I thought turkeys could fly.

by Bisquick McBob on Dec 12, 2010 4:37 PM PST up reply actions

by Bisquick McBob on Dec 12, 2010 4:39 PM PST up reply actions

How so we know that is the call.

Or is Matt just afraid to throw it to the slant receiver for fear of it being picked and going the other way.

by eohawkfan on Dec 13, 2010 3:23 AM PST up reply actions

Speaking of Vick.

That’s what it is, Matt reminds me of a much older, crappier version of Vick’s back up.

Damn I wish we had a disgruntled former star turned comeback player of the year candidate.

Wait we do, he’s the guy trying to catch the shitty throws from Vick’s super old back up copy.
