If the NFL were run like the NCAA, the winner of the NFC West would play the last place team in the NFC East in the Big Game at the End of the Season.

Noel Devine on ABC

Draft stock probably dropped a ton with injuries this season but he was a RB I had my eye on at the start of the season.

Looking forward to Auburn crushing South Ghettolina this afternoon.

Of course I’ll be working till 5, so I’ll probably only catch the second half.

Luck will be a Panther or Bill. Newton scares me. (For the record, Locker is just as scary of a prospect in my eyes as Newton. I just know I’d be more accepting of watching Locker fail than anyone else.

Thats going to be a hell of a game.

And theres no reason to think that Oregon is going to be any better at slowing him down that anyone else has.

by Nate Dogg on Dec 4, 2010 3:47 PM PST up reply actions

Watching Oregon, their safeties aren't great tacklers

I’ve seen guys like Polk, Quizz, and various receivers run them over repeatedly. It hasn’t mattered much, but boy I like the idea of them trying to be the last line of defense against Cam. He’s bigger and stronger than any of them.

by Gihyou on Dec 4, 2010 3:50 PM PST up reply actions

Bigger, stronger and probably faster.

They’re also a very aggressive defense, aren’t they? Seems like they could get burned pretty badly on the read option and all of the play action they run off of it.

by Nate Dogg on Dec 4, 2010 3:52 PM PST up reply actions

They play off their offense

It’s aggressive because they believe they can score a whole bunch anyway and they take chances (and also, there aren’t a lot of offensive juggernauts beyond Oregon in the Pac-10).

Newton burns blitzes and aggression with regularity so I’m interested to see what Oregon does defensively.

by Gihyou on Dec 4, 2010 3:58 PM PST up reply actions

They mentioned it in the broadcast

He has ‘limited access to the Auburn athletic program’ and evidently doesn’t want to be seen anywhere near Cam (at least on the football field) right now

by Nate Dogg on Dec 4, 2010 5:20 PM PST up reply actions

It'd be hard to say he didn't improve...

but so much of that is tied to the development of Jeffrey, the emergence of Lattimore (and to a lesser degree Gurley).

His load is a bit lighter than it has been at any time, and to his credit he’s matured some. Some people are mistake-prone, and he’s mistake-prone. He’s made fewer crushing mistakes this year in a watered-down SEC East.

Throwing into double coverage when he still had time in the pocket.

The only thing that saved him from getting picked there was his own inaccuracy.

Not trying to be an apologist and throwing into double coverage is never good.

But it looked like Goodwin had a shot to run under it if he didn’t get tangled up with one of the DBs while the ball was already in the air. I agree about him still having time too.
