So.......... We're Facing Alex Smith..... Again.
One way another we knew we were going to be facing a "Smith", it wouldn't have even suprised me if Morrisey was the annointed starter for the 49er's this Sunday.
So Seahawk/ Fieldgull Nation, what are your thoughts about the 49ers opting to start Alex over Troy against us this coming Sunday?
I have to say one of my fondest memories is of Rocky Bernard Jumping on Alex Smith During a sack resulting in Alex Smith separating his Shoulder. I believe this dates back to Mike Nolan's coaching tenure with the 49ers, but I'm getting old, so everything seems a little hazy.
It will help that the 49er's are without Gore, and their kicker for Sunday will be Jeff Reed. (Boo! Former Steeler from Superbowl XL!!!)
However, what's the outlook gong into this one? Will the momentum created in the second half (partially credited to Walter Jones perhaps?) be enough to yet again trounce the 49ers on their own turf?
What in your opinion will it take to handily bury the 49ers? Which component/unit/player of this team needs to step up the most this coming Sunday? What are the pitfalls that The Seahawks will need to avoid? Should the plan be to Pressure Smith? or just to let him throw and hope that ET & Tru are ready to pick off a couple? Are Westbrook and Dixon capable of carving us up the way Gore was typically capable of doing so? Or will the return of Colin Cole be enough to return us to a top 10 team at stopping the run?
I REALLY want this game, I want us to be in the position of power come week 17. I'm hoping it doesn't come down to the final game, (as I'd love to have the division clinched by that point already and have it being a meaningless game), but it seems that the Rams are starting to gain a little Momentum, and we'll need some help from their competitors in the coming weeks if we hope to have it locked up before then.
Let me know your thoughts,
GO 'HAWKS!

I think it's the right move for the 49ers.
Higher percentage passing can exploit our weaknesses. Troy Smith could get a couple big plays out of us just as easy but we’d be much more capable of stopping drives and forcing punts. Especially with the depleted run game.
It was always Frank Gore that killed us
I’m not too concerned about any 49er QB. Alex Smith or Troy Smith? It’s kind of a toss up. Yes Troy Smith made some big plays last week, but he usually can’t get over 50 percent completion percentage (only 40% last week). That’s a drive killer. And we all know about Alex Smith. Eh. Toss up.
Agreed.
I’m not worried about the Niners. Their main strength is Frank Gore. He’s out of commission. Troy Smith? Alex Smith? One’s a glorified third stringer, the other a first round bust. As you say, toss up.
It's STILL Great to be a Florida Gator!

I would say Vernon Davis.
The guy’s RAC ability scares the shit out of me, especially with our sketchy OLB coverage and a smallish and aggressive rookie playing FS.
Yeah, but they have to be able to get him the ball first.

I thought "Morrisey" was one of their backups.
Good thing for Wikipedia.

I'm concerned about this game, to be honest.
I think we need to step up our red zone production. More of what we saw against Carolina would be helpful.
I think the offense needs to start strong and take the crowd out of it. Even without Frank Gore, this is still a fairly talented team. The defense needs to get to Smith and hammer him hard to keep the receivers from developing.
That said, it’s definitely a winnable game. I just don’t necessarily think it’s a sure thing that we win it.
I'd rather face Alex over Troy
But if they want to keep sending Alex out there, no complaints from me.
I am a bear of very little brains and big words bother me.
I should have copyrighted that Morrissey joke.
Oh well, creative commons and all that.
Cake for me too, please.
I am hoping we can out coach them.
Dial it up guys! We get back some critical talent on both sides of the ball.
