The first half of last week's game scared the poo out of me. Down by 14 to a 1-10 team starting a rookie quarterback...at home. Yikes. But in the end they turned the game around and had a pretty nice game. This week could be a different story. Yes, the Hawks get Colin Cole back, but I still have deep concerns about the defense moving forward. Can the struggles against the running game be simply chalked up to the injuries to Red Bryant and Colin Cole? Or did Junior Siavii and Raheem Brock fill in ably, and opponents have figured out how to run against the Hawks?
I don't see the Seahawks going into San Francisco and taking this game from a team that has been playing better of late -- aside from last week's debacle, that is. The advanced statistics show these teams diverging, with San Francisco playing almost average football since their 0-5 start. Meanwhile, the Seahawks are playing pretty awful football since their 4-2 start. Couple that with the possibility that they will be playing this game without Obomanu and BMW and, shite, this game could get ugly.
I think the 49ers' defense is good enough to completely shut down the offense. The only spark comes from a few nice catch-and-runs from Forsett. The running game is completely shut down, though, and Forsett finishes with 70 total yards, 50 of which come through the air. He adds a TD to the tally, but the Seahawks fall 17-10 in an ugly game. San Francisco doesn't do much offensively, with one of their touchdowns coming on a pick-six.
bonecruncher takes the cake for predicting BeastForce to have a fantastic day last week. Nicely done. Surf Hawk has once again leapfrogged me to take the top spot in the point prediction competition. True Hawk For Life, and diehard82 are still vying for the top spot as well. This is gonna come down to the wire. Here's the link to the spreadsheet: Link.

Hasselbeck feasts on the Niners' sad secondary.

I would not be shocked if Alex Smith performs amicably against this secondary.
Accustomed to mediocrity.
Not sure why, but I have a good feeling about this game.
Stokley 6 catches 79 yards and 3 or 4 big 3rd down catches.
Hawks win 24-16.
Mosiula Mea'alofa Tatupu.
Something woke the spirit of Mosi inside him on Sunday, and he smashes the 9er run game into a stalemate for Hawthorne & Curry to clean up. 5 tackles himself, and a forced fumble.
Yeah, the 9ers are still a better team. The matchup still favors us giving them trouble, and the QB again gives it to us. Ugly, though, they dominate our offense. Hawks 12-7.
Michael Robinson
A good revenge game for him. Mostly off the stat sheet with great blocking, but he does throw a pass on a trick play for a pivotal first down.
Seahawks 24 Niners 21 OT

I won't be dropping the worst 4 weeks.
That takes a little too much from the sample size. I’ll likely drop the worst and best week to get rid of the outliers on either side.

Golden Tate has his breakout game.
115 yards plus a TD. Half of those yards on one big run after catch.
Hawks pull out another December close one 27-24.
Mike Williams. 12 catches, 133 yards and a TD.
Hawks lose 31-24, as the offense still can’t make drives last.
Brandon Mebane
2 sacks, 3 tackles, one of em for a loss. Seahawks win 30-20.
This wooden soul of mine, it cannot ever climb from places it has fallen: In between where light can shine. It never falls in line, it barely has a spine, like branches severed from the vine. Like it was faulty by design.
Wouldn't he have two tackles for loss? Or did you mean that extra tackle is also for a loss?

Two tackles that aren't for a loss, one that is, making 3 tackles.
Plus 2 sacks….and seeing if he can get away with another chest bump…

Okung!
Doesn’t allow a sack, mauls several d-linemen and/or linebackers who happen to get in the way.
Seahawks Win 27-10.
We win.
We must win. Someone needs to Teabag Alex Smith. It might as well be Milloy. Old Man River, teabag the Smithcakes!
Seattle comes out on top, 31 to 23.
Chris Clemons
2 Sacks, 5 Tackles
Hawks win 27-21

Jordan Babineaux
He had a good week against the niners in week 1,
I think with Alex at QB, he’ll make a big play or 2. INT and 3-4 tackles.
Seahawks 20 | 49ers 19
WHY SO PESSIMISTIC?
Forsett, Lynch and Obomanu will each record a TD.
Return of Cole will be just enough to give us the slight edge that we need, and our Redzone Defense will be stout…… Alex Smith throws 2 picks.
Seahawks 24 | 49ers 20
:)
I don't think it's pessimistic so much as realisitc.
We are playing on the road, and W-L record is one of the only things of ours that is better than the 49ers…we’ve been pretty bad. Who knows though, maybe Cole coming back makes a big impact…I think it’s winnable, but I don’t think a win is the likely outcome.
by BrettJMiller on Dec 10, 2010 10:16 AM PST up reply actions
Well
Obomanu and BMW both questionable. On the road. Butler, Tate, and Stokley starting. Bad running game. Certainly winnable since it is the 49ers, but there are a lot of things that point towards the 49ers having the edge in this one.
by Pessimistic Optimist on Dec 10, 2010 1:50 PM PST up reply actions
I'm going to roll with Lynch, I guess
70+ yds, 1 td.
Hawks win 21-19
I have never bet against the Hawks, so I guess I'm a homer
and while all the stats and national sentiment say they are going to lay an egg under the Golden Gate Bridge, I can’t start now. Unless BMW and Obo are back at 95%, I think we’ll have trouble moving the ball. However, I think it’s just as likely that the Smith’s struggle with the passing game. I’m figuring (hoping) for a big game from Earl Thomas with a couple picks and dozen tackles.
Seattle holds on for a tough and pivotal 16-10 road game win.
ME! BANE!
With Cole back, Mebane is freed up to run amock in the SF backfield. Brandon does his best Rocky Bernard impression and forces Alex Smith to relive his worst nightmare. Needless to say, Alex Smith never sees the fourth quarter…or a starting job in the NFL again. Honorable mention to Pete Carroll for out-coaching Singletary throughout the game.
For a change the Hawks start strong and play a solid 60 minutes. SEA! HAWKS! 23 – Forty-Whiners 13.
GO HAWKS !!!!

A day may come when I pick the 9ers over the Hawks,
but it is not this day! This Sunday, we Win! By all that you hold dear on this good Earth, I bid you Score, Kings of the West!
So, maybe I got a little carried away there. I was pretty successful last time I picked him, so I’m going with Stokely again as Matt’s security blanket. 6 rec for 59yrds, 4 first down catches and 1 TD.
Hawks pull it out 20-17.
Cameron Morrah- had some big grabs last week and he is used again this week due to weak group of receivers.
I know Carlson is back this week, but Morrah looked like a legitimate middle of the field target.
5 for 76 yards and a td
19-13 Niners win as Hawks make Brian Westbrook look 8 years and 4 concussions younger.
Seahawks 31-17
Lynch and Forsett go all shake & bake on the niners and rack up 185 yds + 2 TDS. Return game and turn overs gives us a short field to play on all day.
LEON WASHINGTON!
No TDs, but huge field position gains. Returns two kicks to around the 40 and one into 9er territory. Hawks win 31-17 due to a balanced attack and two Alex Smith INTs.
