Randle going in before Kennedy is a disgrace.
He better at least get in before Warren Sapp, or I’m gonna be really pissed.
For sure
I can’t tell if the Seahawks are really just under appreciated and disrespected—or if I am just a homer.
Probably a little of both. =)
I don’t like Rice. He didn’t deserve to wear #80 here. Like “Edge,” I don’t even regard him as a former Seahawk.

Wayward...
Rice when asked if he was the best wide receiver ever stated that he considered Steve Largant the best ever. This was long before he would become a Seahawk. So when he came here at the end of his career and asked for Steve’s old retired number, Mr. Largent said, you bet.
I will always be proud that Jerry Rice was a Seahawk even if for only one year at the end of his career.

As a Seahawk fan...
I expect our players to get overlooked.
Kenny Easley should be in, Cortez should be in.
The only reason Largent is in is because he set some new records and got media recognition for it. I’d bet actual money that if he hadn’t set any records, but come very close, we would be asking today why he didn’t get voted in.
Jacob Green should actually be in, and probably John Harris. But they never will get in.
Even Sando, when arguing why Rice is the best ever...
mentions a lot of the other top wideouts, but doesn’t mention Largent.
Even covering the ‘Hawks and living in Tacoma didn’t help him think of Largent as a top WR.
Oops! Meant Dave Brown, not John Harris.
Although Harris was very good.
Easley had too short of a career to be inducted
Easley is definitely one of my favorite hawks as well as most people but his career was too short despite his dominance. But I agree Cortez should definitely be in. I can’t think of names that will be eligible next year for the HOF but it should be a good chance for Cortez to be in it.

Why should we assume they're overlooked?
Seattle has not been a very successful franchise and so it doesn’t have many Hall of Fame inductees. Randle had a longer, more decorated career for better teams. He has six first team all-pro selections to Tez’s three, He leads in career AV 107 to 99, for whatever that’s worth, and has 137.5 sacks to Kennedy’s 58. Randle is the all-time leader in sacks by a defensive tackle and sixth overall. Voters notice that stuff.
I mean, I actually think Cortez Kennedy is a better player than John Randle, and that his ability was masked by inferior surrounding talent and an inferior offense, but it’s not like Randle is a slouch, or that Kennedy was head and shoulders better. A pretty strong case can be made the Randle was the better, more significant player.

Why get pissed over anything Seahawk related?
XL was just a game. The Broncos are just another team. Cortez Kennedy was just another player. All valid points of view if you’re not passionate about the Seahawks.
Watching Cortez Kennedy was by far the greatest part of watching the Seahawks in the 90’s. Not only was he an amazing player, but as a kid he was someone I looked up to. Seeing him get passed over every year and then seeing another guy at the same position jump to the front of the line in his first year of eligibility is annoying. If he gets passed over in 2011 and 2012 and then Sapp jumps to the head of the line, it’s a slap in the face to Kennedy. And you can’t tell me that the players don’t care, they usually try and play it cool like it’s not a big deal if they don’t get in, but when you listen to them give their speech, it’s pretty easy to see how much it means to them.

I guess Randle was second year, not first, but still Kennedy is now going on year 6 I believe.
You can make a case that Randle is better (although I disagree) you can’t say he’s that much better.

I never accused you of not being a Seahawks fan. And I didn't say the Seahawks are persecuted.
I just think that the fact that Kennedy has waited 5 years going on 6 to get into the HoF while Randle gets in this year after waiting 1 year, diminishes what Kennedy did in his career a little bit. But if he waits 3 more years and then Warren Sapp jumps in ahead of him, I think it would really diminish him, and that would really bother me. If I said that he’d be in the Hall if he was on a different team, then that would be claiming the Seahawks are persecuted.
And as far as saying
XL was just a game. The Broncos are just another team. Cortez Kennedy was just another player. All valid points of view if you’re not passionate about the Seahawks.I’m not accusing you of not being a fan, I just ment to point out that I can see why some people would question why people get worked up about a favorite team or player or a hated team, but considering that you seem very passionate about the Seahawks, I was surprised that you’d question it, even if you didn’t feel the same way on this particular matter. You even encouraged people to go to football outsiders and vote for Brandon Mebane as “The most underrated defensive player in the NFL” so you must at least care somewhat about whether players you really like get acknowledgement.
I don’t mean to make a big deal out of it, I just felt like I needed to justify my feelings a little.

Well, it IS the Hall Of Fame...
Not Hall Of Best Players.
