Coming up: Is the dream *really* over?
Yes it is.
Or is it?

CARMICHAEL!
The Seattle Times linked to my website in June 2009. I wasn't aware of this until January 2010.
Nice job by New Orleans.
I enjoyed watching them fight, scrap, and claw for every inch of every yard. Of course, Brees’ completion percentage of 82% on 39 attempts is fairly decent. He also didn’t turn the ball over.
very happy for the Saints fans
but makes me wonder if we might actually be the last time to win a Superbowl. At least the Cardinals are losing Warner so they are weakened.
I want more coaches like Sean Payton, and less like Jim Caldwell.

Something about him screams "Barry Switzer".

definitely not there for the rebuild in a few years-but he only seems to run the defense
I think a strong coach will come in after Manning retires but I don’t think they want some one strong to clash with the

Jim Caldwell has seemed like a done nothing coach to me
I don’t know about you but I rarely see Caldwell fire up his players or talk to them for that matter. It seems like he’s just a puppet to Manning.

Just because they don't show it on TV doesn't mean it isn't happening.

And how important is "firing up" the team or talking to them?
Mora seemed pretty fiery. Hell of a lot of good it did him.
Some of the all-time great coaches weren’t all that fiery, and rarely spoke directly to their players in detail during the game…

He spent several years as a horrible college coach
Before joining the Colts. He’s a rookie so hopefully he can learn.
The Seattle Times linked to my website in June 2009. I wasn't aware of this until January 2010.
You mean he spend several years losing at Wake Forest.
Losing games does not make one a horrible coach.
I’m not saying I think he’s a good/great coach, just that the Wake Forest example isn’t a great one.
You could just as easily also say he’s 16-1 in games his team truly tried to win, which would put him with the top winning percentage all time if he just keeps it up.

I think he's a heckova coach
I mean he went to the SB in his first year as a HC. That’s an accomplishment he deserves kudos for.

I don't know.
I’m not sold Peyton couldn’t have been a player-Head Coach and done just as well, perhaps better, given the right coaching staff in support he could delegate to.
Grading a coach by whether he took an already built and established team to the SB when they were among the most likely to get there regardless of who coached them isn’t a particularly impressive thing. I’m not sold he “coached” them so much as “stayed out of the way” for the most part.
Of course, he did walk away from the chance at immortality (and it did nothing to improve yesterday’s result) so there is that in the minus column.

Very, very happy for the Saints.
Manning I think still has as good a shot to go again next year.
Talents that I covet:
Ndamukong Suh, Gerald McCoy, Sam Bradford, Mike Iupati, Golden Tate, Earl Thomas, and Freddie Barnes
Good Call... Manning has a good shot to go every year.
It’s kinda the benefit of being the greatest QB ever to play in a QB’s league.
Bring Your Game, Leave Your Name.
Certainly he's in the conversation...

The AFC being what it was in the past, the competition was stronger, and Manning's odds were a little longer
Next year, due to the uncapped year and it’s impact on free agency, it seems as if the status quo in the AFC will likely suffer little change. Because of that, it still looks as if the Colts are still the team to beat.
That’s just me, though. I could very much be wrong.

Grrr- teams to beat won't change
The Patriots, Colts, and Steelers are incredibly run organizations, the other two were down this year but they will be back. I don’t see anyone else rising up to take their places two years in a row until their QB’s retire.

My good friend goes to Tulane Med.
He lives ~5 block from the French Quarter, he said NOLA just blew up. It sounds like a bomb went off outside his window.
Congradulations to New Orleans!
And to the Seahawks..Please become a good passing team soon.

With that, each team is 0-0. Slate is clean.
Draft wisely, Pete, for you draft our dreams.
On the downside, drafting and signing poorly could screw us for years to come.
In the other hand, if they do well Pete and John could earn Zduriencik style instant love from me.
Hoo boy. The draft can’t get here soon enough.
As long as we don't draft Taylor Mays (any time before the first two rounds)
I think I’ll call this draft a win =)
6/14/40. Sweet.
I recognize Berry is the superior prospect, but man.
What a physical specimen. That doesn’t make a football player, but I am fascinated by Taylor more than anyone in the draft except Tebow.

I'm full of nervous optimism.
I’ve never been so scared and excited for an offseason as now. And Go Saints!
Also a die-hard Hawks fan.
me too
I am nervous, not scared. I am going to assume that Carroll has learned from his mistakes from the first time and that our GM is going to know how to avoid the Ruskell trap.

Keep in mind, Schneider won't lead him astray
Carroll will say something like:
I’m going to install defense A
We have players A, B, C, D, F and H
We need player E and G to fill the gaps.
Schneider will then go find guys that fit the mold.
I don’t think Schneider will draft busts. We have to hope, however, that Carroll’s schemes, once staffed, work as advertised. That’s what we have to worry about.
6/14/40. Sweet.
Dammit - that still makes us third in the division
Warner retiring helps us, the division is really weak now. It is there for the taking it is a matter of stepping it up and taking it.

Can't believe that happened with that particular Saint in the background... surreal.

If the Saints can do it...
anyone can. It just takes a major natural disaster and then getting screwed over by all systems of government to make it happen. I am thinking I am glad I live in Portland in the next few years…
Give me an offensive line or give me death!
Also, the whole Pacific NW
is one of the most at risk places in the country for natural disasters. Volcanoes, Earthquakes, Tsunamis. We’re surrounded by things that can kill us up here.
Now with more lemon bars!
I can't believe more people don't take this seriously.
I keep a 72-hour emergency kit in my car and at my desk at work because there’s such a good chance for some sort of natural disaster.
I keep a supply kit in my truck as well.
And I’m not the most organized guy in the world, but it just makes sense, and I have room…

not anyone can do it
Drew Brees practically had a once-in-a lifetime performance this year, go look at the numbers, many of his stats overshadowed Manning (and fittingly, overshadowed in the SB)! So yes, if your QB can be better then Manning, then anyone can do it, ha ha.
As a Saints fan, I'm still sky high
But the Seahawks are my ‘home’ team and I’m optimistic about the future.
New coach, a new QB and a few players here and there, and we’ll be back to the playoffs.
Sean Payton proves you dont only win with conservative scheme and making the safest choices!
