Maybe, since there are many teams involved
We can sign him and trade him for a 7th rounder instead. Maybe the browns can give us Wallace back.
It is what it is...
If this is true
it better be a straight trade for B-Marsh cuz I’m gonna tear someone up at the VMAC otherwise……right, intelligent conversation:
The trade of almost any player can be soothed if the fan perceives it to be a good price. I think my opinion of Sims is too much to the point where any reasonable trade will not satisfy. He definitely appeared to be our best O-lineman last year. I cannot speak for the rest of you, though.
Though they sink through the Sea, they shall rise again...Death shall have no dominion...
I'm in the same Sims-mancrush-boat
the new VP of my department recently flew back from the East coast and mentioned he was sitting next to a Hawks lineman (the struck up a conversation).
When I said “was it Rob SIms?” I got an emphatic “yes! that’s who it was!”
I likely would have wet my pants and instantly rosied my cheeks had it been me.
Seriously though, I’m going to be bummed if we lose Sims. He seemed like the most consistent lineman, and he’s young and relatively cheap. I don’t see any reason to not match any offer sheet that’s presented.
6/14/40. Sweet.
This was inevitable
when we tendered him at the 4th round level. At this disillusioned point I’d almost be surprised if we get a 4th for him
Hey, at least we still have Sean Locklear!
It's Great to be a Florida Gator!
The Arizona Cardinals' plan for success:
-Lose all talent on team to retirement and free agency.
-Call it a day.
I think there is a component we are all forgetting.
Does Sims really fit the Gibbs profile? I know John hasn’t gone into detail on the zone blocking scheme for us yet, but although I am a Sims fan, I really don’t think he does.
I’m not sure any of our current offensive linemen besides Unger will be starting for the Seattle Seahawks two years from now. Assuming of course no spectacular Walter Jones comeback…which has like a .0005% chance of happening long enough for him to be playing in 2 years.
I'll play automatic-response FG regular
The point isn’t whether he worked here or not, it’s that we’re not going to get back what he’s worth.
I feel strongly that way about Tapp, and that he could have been great in the scheme that is being put in.
However he is worth less to a team that’ll sit him or cut him or not sign him in a year. We could get nothing for him.
And that auto-response is before we even see what we get back.
In case it hasn't been seen
Danny O’Neil confirmed the report that Rob Sims is being held out of offseason workouts.
As for whether he fits in their plans, I guess it’s fair to say he doesn’t. But not because he’s not a Gibbs fit. He was the best lineman last year in the ZBS, and specifically because of the execution on inside zone run plays. He still hadn’t mastered zone pass blocking, where he didn’t yet have good enough anticipation of defender engagements or pass guys off well enough.
