This isn't a surprise with the Cards signing DA.

SEA/SD are probably arguing which 4th will be dealt: the Hawks natural 4th (darn close to a 3rd) or the 4th received from the Eagles.

Let’s give them Teel and a 5th rounder :P

6/14/40. Sweet.

Still holding out hope we are swapping picks

1.14 for Whitey, 1.28 and SD’s 3rd. Then flip 28 or 40 for a certain WR that is out there. I know it has been mentioned before, but thought I’d bring it up again here.

Would also love it to be a pick next year and keep the high picks we have for the help we need at OT, DT, S, etc.

Even in San Diego they talk about the hair.

I think I’m OK with the Buddy Christ being on our team.

by Chirp on Mar 17, 2010 11:10 AM PDT reply actions

I like Buddy Christ the most

I was thinking a hunky Dave Grohl

At least we aren't the Raiders?

I can only get so excited

about a journeyman who has thrown for 13 yards in 4 years in the league.

by Kevaru on Mar 17, 2010 12:07 PM PDT up reply actions

Actually, journeyman implies no upside

just limited competency. I think Whitehurst certainly has upside, and there’s no way to know about his competency yet.

by rossco17 on Mar 17, 2010 12:17 PM PDT up reply actions

Sorry about my wording. I'm drinking

Happy Saint Patty’s y’all! Hope you’re wearing your seafoam green jerseys!

by Kevaru on Mar 17, 2010 12:18 PM PDT up reply actions

Not Nuclean Cabbage?

I guess the leprechauns will pinch you for that, regardless of wearing green.

by Chirp on Mar 17, 2010 12:51 PM PDT up reply actions

He's not a journeyman

and he’s stuck behind perhaps the best #1-#2 QB combination in the league. How many throws would you expect from a QB in that situation?

by rossco17 on Mar 17, 2010 12:12 PM PDT up reply actions

Whomever performs better in camp/preseason is good with me

I expect that if Hass ends up starting, it will only be until he’s hurt and Charlie will then step in and take over

by rossco17 on Mar 17, 2010 12:01 PM PDT up reply actions

Especially if Clayton is right...

and we’re really talking “better than backup” money.

Also, O’Neil confirmed PFT’s rumor about Sims being barred from offseason workouts. ugh.

by niko on Mar 17, 2010 12:03 PM PDT up reply actions

Ugh is right.

Entering free agency, the Seahawks had holes at:

QB of future
LT
RB (to pair with Forsett)
DT (Cole sucks)
Vague need for secondary talent

Since free agency, we can add to that list:
WR (bye Nate)
Starting safety (bye Grant)
Pass-rush DE (bye Tapp)
Guard (if Sims goes)

At this point, it seems like the only positions we have a combination of quality and depth at are TE and LB. Seems like whoever we draft, there’s still gonna be some big holes in the roster Week 1.

by sev79 on Mar 17, 2010 12:19 PM PDT up reply actions

He is bringing in his own people

I think there is a plan that will take several years to inact.

At least we aren't the Raiders?

by Generzal Zod on Mar 17, 2010 12:29 PM PDT up reply actions

Exactly.

It’s going to be a little painful. And even more painful if he doesn’t maximize the return on the parts he’s selling. But trading RFAs for picks is better than losing them in a year or two just because they don’t fit the system. That said, it’s still painful losing Tapp and I don’t think he got close to good value at all.

by cashless on Mar 17, 2010 12:43 PM PDT up reply actions

I actually thought we already had holes at all of those positions.

However, I do believe those holes are getting deeper. I think I can see China through a couple of them…or maybe that’s just molten lava.

by Chirp on Mar 17, 2010 12:52 PM PDT up reply actions

Pure speculation

We give 6 and 14 and get Marcus McNeil, Whitehurst, and their 1st round pick? Deal or no deal?

At least we aren't the Raiders?

by Generzal Zod on Mar 17, 2010 12:20 PM PDT reply actions

Uh...

I would personally burn down Qwest Field if that happened.

by Wilder. on Mar 17, 2010 12:22 PM PDT up reply actions

just curious

At least we aren't the Raiders?

by Generzal Zod on Mar 17, 2010 12:28 PM PDT up reply actions

Wow.

That trade would be indescribable.

by purplepansy on Mar 17, 2010 12:32 PM PDT up reply actions

Although the current FO doesn't just get a pass...

it’s worth noting that this Tapp deal may just be the fallout from the unstable desperate situation at QB.

So...

If our previous two seasons (9-23) seasons are Moria, and the fallen Matt Hasselbeck is Gandalf, will Charlie “Aragorn” Whitehurst lead us out of Moria and into Lothlorien (Superbowl berth)? My Lord of the Rings-based prognosis says yes.
