Seahawks signing Quinton Ganther?
We certainly need a running back improvement. What do you think about this signing? It seems like he could be better than some of the players on our roster, but we also need younger talent; younger than this, and probably more talented. I'd like to see a talented running back grabbed in the draft. Hopefully this is a depth move and I'd be interested in seeing more information on whether or not the fellow can play.
Ganther was a seventh rounder in 2006 out of Utah

Hopefully this means the end of JJ
… and a lot more of JF

His own college
doesn’t have a scouting report for him. Rivals gave him 2 stars. Hopefully someone else, with more knowledge or resources can find some specifics about what we might be able to expect from him. Where did that Redskins fan go who was on here earlier?
So, he's not Nick Reed, in other words.
"I’m not a Chuck Norris. I’m not a badass," said Ganther. "I’m Quinton Ganther, and I’m a guy who is humble. I’m a guy who comes to work and takes pride in this job, this opportunity. What people don’t understand is this is a blessing. Just to be sitting here in this locker room talking to you right now, this is a blessing. People would give up their right arm or leg for this."

Now we can pair him with our 2008 7th round pick Justin Forsett out of Cal.
The all 7th round backfield would be sweet. And by sweet, I mean I hope we get someone prior to the 5th round this year in the draft to be our primary, or at a minimum, running back in heavy rotation.
I can't imagine he'll be more than depth at FB/RB
I have a friend who’s an avid Redskins fan, and I saw Ganther tote the rock after Portis and Betts got hurt last year. My uneducated eyes tell me that he has some value in short yardage situations, but it’s worth noting that his most extensive action was in their game against the Raiders who were y’know, just awesome against the run… He posted 14 carries for 50 yds (3.6 ypc) and punched in two TDs from short range.
Scouts, Inc. grades him out at a 52 and says, for what it’s worth:
“Ganther is a backup running back/fullback who will line up at both positions . He does not stand out at either. He is undersized as a fullback but lacks the speed and elusiveness to be a front-line tailback. He has a good short burst of acceleration to get to the hole, but but tops out pretty quick and lacks a second gear once he gets into the open field and will get run down from behind.”
He's not like JForce
Tennessee Titan’s media guide states; In pre-draft workouts, he ran the 40-yard dash in 4.56 seconds. Forsett’s clock time seem to range from 4.6~4.7. After watching Forsett play and Ganther on youtube, the latter is obviously faster. At least he doesn’t tired after 10 yards. I like Forsett, but he’s not a one cut and go type back because he will never hit the home run.
I can only hope he never carries the ball as a running back. Or catches it. Or makes the team.
I’m about as excited about this signing as a pencil gouged into my eye.
Probably a cheap depth move to take another back into training camp and see who sticks.
I wouldn’t be worried about this.
Somebody should alert John Schneider about this
so he can go back and give them some.

Not an official spot.
We can have about as many players as we want until the 75 and 53 man trim-downs. I don’ t see how this is a problem until we need to trim the roster. If he’s not worth keeping, chances are, he won’t be blocking anybody better. In other words, he’ll be trimmed.
He takes up the team's attention, when it should be focused on younger backs
Why bother bringing in a mediocre vet when we could easily draft an equivalent player VERY late in the draft?
