"The Seahawks are going to have the leverage here. They're the only team seriously interested thus far, and they know the Broncos don't want to go into the season with a disgruntled Marshall on their roster. Clayton posits that Seattle could wait through the first round to see if the Broncos will trade Marshall for less than a first-round pick." Source.

I said this on another thread... but I can see the Hawks trading down then dealing for Marshall.

It makes sense. Let’s say the Hawks are sitting at #14 and there’s no one there they really want. By trading down say ten spots to #24 or something they pick up maybe a late 2nd or early third.

Now they’re sitting there with a #24, a #60, and something around a #60. This is all material that can be used to acquire Marshall. In a draft with this kind of depth that’s gold.

I realize this is somewhat rosterbation (drafterbation?) but with the mishmash of equivalent-level talent in the mid-to-late first round it just makes sense to drop down, and in the process maybe get a bargaining chip that helps get us a star WR.

putting together the pieces

Assume O’Neill is right about the turn down of a 3rd rounder for Hass. That in itself could be an indication of what Denver is looking for, better than a 3rd rounder. Thus getting their hands on a 2nd rounder is paramount but there are many ways that could come to be.

Granted, I don’t buy the Hass for a 3rd rounder offer. Seems a bit “bread crumbly” for me – Hass likely trade candidate => Holmgren knows him => Browns need QB depth => Browns have 3 3rd round picks. Voila! Rumor started.

Shanghai Kelly's on Polk St. in San Francisco is the worst bar on the face of the earth (at least on Sunday mornings).

Only thing I wonder is if 60th is too low.

40th, might have still needed another piece. I was expecting the leverage to slowly slide toward us, and definitely hope we get Marshall for the 60th. I just don’t know.
