Groan-inducing.

I like Sims, but that seems like a pretty good deal. Isn't Alex Brown really good?
Or am I living in 2006?
Alex Brown isn't terrible
A reliable starter on different good Bears Ds over the year.
But yeah, as you said, he’s going to be 31, and even in his prime barely had the value Sims has.

I'm not excited.
When a team trades for a DE (Adams who is no longer with the team/deceased), lets another one walk (Ogunleye), and is willing to part with yet another one? They don’t exactly have DEs to spare – he is likely old or terrible. Probably both.
Better be getting draft picks with this.
I don’t like creating a hole at left tackle, while simultaneously getting older on the D-line.
As for cutting Patrick Kerney, I won’t believe it until I see it, because they should have cut him a while ago, unless they thought that he had trade value.
Talents that I covet:
Ndamukong Suh, Gerald McCoy, Sam Bradford, Mike Iupati, Golden Tate, Earl Thomas, and Freddie Barnes
Gahh. You're right.
I was pretty tired today, what with moving to a new place and doing homework.

Brown is probably going to be cut anyway.
If we wait to sign him as a free agent instead of trade, we can get an offer sheet on Sims.

The Chicago Sun Times says Seahawks don't want Brown, according to two mysterious sources.
Goes on to say Seattle wants draft picks.
It also says that the reason Sims is deemed expendable is because new line coach Gibbs prefers to work with players with whom he’s more familiar, which if true is a really stupid reason to ditch Sims. Cuz, you know, there’s plenty of time left before the season to get to know the guy, Coach Gibbs. I’m guessing the writer of the article was just talking out of his ass on that one though.
I hope he wasn't.
I want draft picks, dammit.

They have 5.
75th overall (3rd round), 109th overall (4th round), 141st overall (5th round), 181st overall (6th round), and 218th (7th round)

That seems peculiar.
Where’s he gonna find people with whom he’s familiar? I know he’s been around a while, but making up an o-line out of spare parts from other teams sounds silly.
The best thing out of this article for me was
that it answered the question I’ve had for a while but never cared enough to look up:
Whatever happened to Mike Tice?
Brown is better than Tapp.
Chicago needs cap room and really needs help on the offensive line. Brown had limited starts but still would have been the sack leader on the Seahawks for the last two years.
Also, the big D-line contracts -
Peppers, for example, force Chicago to move Brown.

What cap room?
Forgive me, but Brown > Tapp and Brown being the sack leader for the Seahawks in the last two years is speculative.

Sack leader
Last season’s sack leader was Kerney with 5. Year before Tapp/Mebane with 5.5
In both those years, Alex Brown had 6 sacks.
I think that’s what Burton meant.
