Burleson...is sure-handed and runs precise routes. He’s also a more-than-willing downfield blocker...

I looked up Seifert to see where he gets his "expert card."
And he was a/the writer covering the Minnesota Vikings for the Minneapolis Star-Tribune, from 2000 to 2007. Meaning he watched young Burleson during the first three years of his career.
But he sure seems like he’s talking about a different Nate than we know.
Yeah, if this was the case
he would have already been re-signed by us.

Seifert wrote a second article involving Burleson on ESPN already this morning.
This one he actually admits “uneven performances,” the major injury, and a “disappointing career in Seattle.” But the rest still talks about how great he’ll be for the Lions, so more of the same, but a tiny acknowledgement of truth.
He will look good with Calvin drawing coverage away from him.
But I have to think Nate will disappear at times like he was prone to do. His route-running laziness will show over time and probably make his young QB look bad. That said, Detroit hasn’t had a #2 WR…..ever. I think it’s a great fit. Burleson easily upgrades the scrubs they trotted out on the field in recent years to get ignored by defenses. Bethel Johnson? Mike Furrey? Shaun McDonald? Plus, Nate can burn his former team twice a year – or help them win by playing like a bum, whichever mood he’s in.
Ever?
Try 1995. 2nd WR Brett Perriman had 1488 yards receiving. That’s pretty good for a number 2.

That was an incredible offense for a short period of time...
Even that QB had a great year, but the 1-2-3 punch of Barry, Herman Moore and Perriman was fantastic.
