Further Evidence that the Passing Game Rules the Modern NFL
Which is why fixing the Seahawks offense is all about adding a quarterback, offensive tackle and talent at wide receiver.
The perhaps less appreciated implication of passing offense ruling the modern NFL is that when evaluating prospects, remember to give extra weight to pass-centric features, ie pass blocking for offensive linemen, receiving for running backs, pass rush for defensive tackles, etc, and less weight to run-centric features. I'm looking at you, fifth overall pick Levi Brown.

The QB is certainly the hardest part
Erik Kramer
Vinny Testaverde
Steve McNair
probably the only three QBs on that list who aren’t going to be in the HOF, assuming that Rivers doesn’t drastically decline.
That’s the thing. A good QB’s peak is so long you really almost can’t overvalue one. QBs with comparable production to Brandon Marshall’s almost never hit the market, where WRs do with reasonable regularity.

From his acceptance interview
“We have to run the football to be successful in our division first, and then in the NFL. You have to," Carroll told reporters. "It will affect everything that follows. It’ll affect defense. It’ll affect our passing game. It’ll help our quarterback."
"That is one of the key elements of putting together a team that has a chance to win right away. You’ve got to have a quarterback…The NFL is a quarterback-driven process…"
Maybe, I was mostly just making a joke
It’ll be more Bates offense anyway. Plus, I think pretty much every team wants to run the ball more effectively. Except the Lions.
I wasn't being accusatory
I more just wanted affirmation to help ease my nerves during this hellacious period.
True enough
I want to hear
Fuck the run. We suck at it. We’re just going to pass-happy the shit out of those bitches. Championship, lock it in!
Well, I guess we have, once upon a time.
“I was encouraged by our receivers and how we threw the ball [Sunday],” Holmgren said, "and that might be the way we have to go now. Play to our strengths just a little bit, how we’re going right now. Instead of striving for balance, maybe we have to tip the scales just a little bit to be at our most productive.
I normally don't swear on my comment posts but...
John that is a big fucking find/observation there. Huge dig.
I think it does nothing but reinforce the notion that your o-linemen and RB’s don’t need to be top 10 picks to contribute maximum value. Normally, linemen that are swift footed (but not necessarily road graters) are downgraded slightly. Likewise, running backs that posses receiving skills are generally slapped with the cliche’ “utility” back moniker (as if being multi-dimensional were a fault).
I love this type of information!
