Friday Draft Thread
Seattle could trade up. Seattle could trade down. Most likely, I think Seattle does what it did yesterday: Wait until 60 and take whoever falls.

Is it crazy to think Dunlap could fall?
This draft could be epic.
Crazy?
CRAZY LIKE A FOX
There’s so much talent left, I like the chances of someone dropping that fits a need for us
by Thomas Beekers on Apr 23, 2010 2:15 PM PDT up reply actions
Kiper AND McShay both have SEA taking him at #60
I wouldn’t mind seeing if this guy learned anything after falling from potential #1 pick to iffy 2nd rounder.
If he’s there take him and ride him until the next contract. Could be a monster steal.
I thought Cody was the guy in a D-Cup?
OH, I get it, we’re talking about a 3-4 Defense. I thought 34 was a bit low for Dunlap’s bustline.
Definitely would be a good fit in that one-dimensional role.
I wouldn’t be afraid of him in Carroll’s scheme though, especially for a low 2nd.
NFL.com is reporting
the skins trading Hayesworth for a 3rd rd. pick to the titans. or possibly minnesota.
wonder if we could get him.
Well, those teams have something we don't.
by SeahawksFanInNY on Apr 23, 2010 1:56 PM PDT up reply actions
Honestly, I'm not a big Haynesworth fan
Yeah, he can be great, but he mixes that up with taking plays off and dirty play, like curb-stomping opponents after the play is over. I’d probably give up a 3rd for him, but I’d still feel guilty rooting for the guy.
by SeahawksFanInNY on Apr 23, 2010 2:01 PM PDT up reply actions
Would he be worth the 60th pick?
we’d be done for the day, but we’d have filled another need. A little scary to wait on defensive end and running back and such, but the draft is deep enough that our 4th rounders should still be good players.
Who can even say with that guy. Got his pay-day.
by jacobstevens on Apr 23, 2010 2:02 PM PDT up reply actions
Yeah, that's something worries me.
He went from a 100 million dollar contract to being worthy of trading for a 3rd rounder. I know part of it might have been scheme, but a great player would transcend that, wouldn’t he? You know, a player worthy of a $100,000,000 contract?
from the article:
“Haynesworth would be ecstatic about a return to Tennessee, according to league sources, and would be willing to alter his contract to facilitate a deal. He is not interested in playing the nose tackle in a 3-4 scheme, and that problem is not going to resolve itself.”
http://blogs.nfl.com/2010/04/23/haynesworth-deal-expected-to-come-down-today/#sort:TimeStampDescending/page:1
I think it was just a bad fit. And if a guy wants tow SUVs around in his own training regimen I’m ok with that
Nah, I don't like giving up 60 for him
He’s lazy, and he’s not as young as he used to be.
by SeahawksFanInNY on Apr 23, 2010 2:06 PM PDT up reply actions
Me either
Haynseworth with his contract is not worth the #60 pick.

It is a deep draft isn't it...
_
by Sean Michael Patrick Gallegos on Apr 23, 2010 2:25 PM PDT up reply actions
Yes, deep.
But HOW deep is where we differ. I don’t give it all capitals, an describe it as The Deepest Draft in NFL History. Ha ha. It’s deep, possibly deepest, but not by much, and not epically.
I’ve been saying that the fourth rounders were OK because they were more like third rounders. Some others said they were worthless. I also don’t think they’re worth ten times what 4th rounders will be worth next year. But I don’t give much value to the value chart. I tend to look at the players coming down a scale rather than exponentially being worth less each round. This guy is a bit better than this guy, rather than this guy is worth ten times what this guy is.
I can understand that...
Many people don’t give much value to the value chart, I think more people do then are willing say they do. Simply because once they set a value to something then people “expect” to get equal value or they feel like they are being robbed or will get bad press if they don’t bargain better. Like when Seattle gave up a late 1st round pick in value for a mid 3rd round player. The media is still laughing at them, I was in Vegas at the time of the trade and the bookies were half laughing and half swearing at the trade. So yeah people ignore the value chart but in many cases they ignore it at their own peril. Because if Whitehurst only ends up being a back up QB it is the same mistake as if Tim Tebow ends up a back up in Denver… that’s all I’m saying.
by Sean Michael Patrick Gallegos on Apr 23, 2010 2:47 PM PDT up reply actions
I was talking about Whitehurst not Branch
by Sean Michael Patrick Gallegos on Apr 23, 2010 3:03 PM PDT up reply actions
you are right
We went from 530 to 300 and then next year we gave up our 3rd rounder which will likely be a top 10 3rd round pick @ 10 it is 225 and the difference in the drop of 230 plus 225 that’s 455 which is a second rounder this year. For a guy who was only worth 185 the year he was drafted which isn’t as good as this years draft.
by Sean Michael Patrick Gallegos on Apr 23, 2010 3:14 PM PDT up reply actions
But, but, but...
Shouldn’t we call that third rounder a second rounder, due to the Historic Depth of This Class!?
Actually no because you are going in the wrong direction...
San Diego got one of the drafts this year so the 3rd round talent that we got for Whitehurst who definitely would not be a 3rd rounder this year. I think we can agree on that… So when you calculate it, it seems more like a late first rounder for a fourth rounder but then again next year is shallow draft so it evens out. To a late 3rd for a late 1st.
by Sean Michael Patrick Gallegos on Apr 23, 2010 3:02 PM PDT up reply actions
After three times of telling my wife to "lock it down"
on picks (humorously) that did not go the way I expected, I decided I’d better stop calling picks for the year.
Why would the Seahawks want a Nose Tackle
when we don’t run a traditional 3-4 defense? At #60 I’d be happy with Lamarr Houston, and thrilled with Brian Price (but not getting my hopes up).
A lot of people think he's a DE in a 3-4
He’s a penetrator and not all that physical.
by Brendan Scolari on Apr 23, 2010 3:01 PM PDT up reply actions
I would trade up for Clausen.
Word now is he’s not hot enough to go 33 or 34.
Guys I’m excited for at 60 if they fall to us, in no particular order:
Golden Tate
Taylor Mays even though we already got a safety
Damian Williams
Lamarr Houston
Bruce Campbell even though we already got a tackle
Akwasi Owusu-Ansah — yes I copied and pasted that
Other guys who are good.
I never heard about this Uther Gizehoo-Argood guy...
I’m sure he’s a great player but if his name doesn’t mean something coincidentally apropos I’m not interested.
His first name means
Born on Sunday. That’s pretty sick.
by Brendan Scolari on Apr 23, 2010 3:02 PM PDT up reply actions
I bet we're all going to be suprised by (at least) one guy who falls to #60 who should've been picked beforehand
And I wonder if the Seahawks would take this mystery player. Carroll seems like he has a specific plan on what we’re going to get in this draft……but after yesterday I feel confident that we probably won’t reach for said player. Too bad the Jaguars probably won’t trade up into the 2nd round and get someone just as undeserving as Tyson Aluau at #10.
Every year we watch guys drop
and every year I’m sitting there saying GRAB HIM FOR FUCK’S SAKE and then we don’t and then (usually) the seasons go by and we never hear the guy’s name.
Weird how that happens.
See:
Rashad Jennings from Liberty and Duke Robinson from Oklahoma in last year’s draft. Couldn’t believe how far those guys fell. I thought either could go as high as round 2 or 3!
/prays
Yeah, Robinson.
It was funny hearing everyone in Seattle yelling to draft him. What happened to him?

I'm with you brother.
After work I won’t be around technology much either.
Figuring out a way to land Clausen without paying the Whitehurst Premium would be phenomenal.
That would be a pretty easy way to “win the draft”.
Are these picks 10 minutes each, too?
Or five?
Five would be nice. I don’t have all night.
I'm pretty sure they shorter,
But I don’t know by how much.
NFL.com's website shows a 7:00 for the Rams.
I’m assuming it’s 7 minutes.
Yup, 7:00.
I think it’s 5:00 for each round thereafter. But I’m having trouble finding info to that effect.
I want to fleece Denver again.
Do they have a 2nd round draft pick that we can get for a small price?

I think they only have one now
After trading up for Tebow. Obviously they’re going to keep the pick and drat Colt McCoy or Jevan Snead.
They still have
a 2nd, two 3rds, a 5th and a 6th, even after giving up so much for Tebow,

My wild prediction is a Leroy Hill trade

I agree - probably not in the 2nd
but if there’s a run on LBs, Hill + one of the 4ths may get us back into the 3rd. Probably wishful thinking on my part – with a possible suspension, Hill’s value is probably a lot lower than I think.

I have a weird thing for young receivers though, I think they're all going to be great.
Except for DeSean Jackson. I knew that dude would suck.
In short I’m terrible with receivers.
I liked Fred Jackson and Reggie Brown when they started out
Of course they soon sucked out loud. I soured on DeSean quickly, mainly because he was a high-round WR drafted by the Eagles, based on their track record alone
Then you're the only one.
He’s still serviceable, but I thought (for a moment) he’d be a regular starter, perhaps a pro bowl or two, if lucky.
Fred Jackson?

Rams taking Clausen.
Oh yeah. Guaranteed. Of of those guys has to not suck, right?
I'd like Emmanuel Sanders later on.
4.4 40, 6.64 cone drill.
Oh, NFL.com has Sanders at a 6.60.
For reference, Revis put up a 6.56, Anthony Gonzalez ran a 6.54!, USC Steve Smith 6.68, as did Greg Jennings. 6.6 is fast.
At least half those I'll bet won't be taken because the FO believes they have been addressed
Or weren’t that much of a need. I still think they overvalue our DT situation. I’m predicting RB, DE, or CB.
Is it seriously not starting until 7:30 again tonight?

Even putting his off-field issues aside, he still has a big contract
So either they have to pay him, or Hill is only a one-year rental, adjusting to a new system. Not to mention possibly being suspended for a game or two. I just don’t see another team giving up more than what the Jets gave up for Holmes.

Still other wideouts. This is going well so far. Just trying not to get too much hope for Clausen.
I hate that weak arm of his
I wonder how good he really is, minus the talented teammates he had at Texas.
