It's going to cost less and less to move up now if we include the 60 pick

I'm not saying to move up to draft Clausen

At this point, I don't think we need to move up.
Even if Clausen isn’t available, there is a bunch of talent waiting.
I could see us moving back from our first 4th rounder to move up in the 2nd
But not losing a pick completely.
I don't want to move up... just pointing out the obvious

Daryl Washington it is.
The Seahawks have traded my signature to the Detroit Lions for a 6th round draft pick.
I finally figured out who Rob Gronkowski reminds me of.
He’s like a gigantic Woody Boyd from Cheers.
Is anybody else kinda worried
at how good the Cardinals D will be a few years down the line?
How bout this year?
Calais Campbell, Dockery, Dan Williams.

If they only target D line in both the draft and FA
where do they get the rest of their players?
NINERS TRADE!

Bur Clausen could be much better
For a 2nd rounder, it’s a great pick. Moore can still start this season, not unlike Rivers and Brees a few years ago.
I don't get that either
A lot of people (pundits) seem to have written him off. Dunno. Apparently they didn’t believe in him.

And...
we know Clausen can take a punch, which should make Steve Smith happy.

We should get a good pick at 60
though it won’t be nearly as useful as Clausen could have been. The reign of Whitehurst has officially begun.
Now with more lemon bars!
Not with a 1st rounder, for sure.
I held out hope that they would recognize how cheap he was and grab him in the 2nd though once he fell.
Now with more lemon bars!
Not sure what though
sometimes it’s just echo chamber. Team X should take him. Doesn’t take him. There must be something wrong. He continues to fall. Yadda, yadda.
"Those who fear disorder more than injustice inevitably produce more of both." -- Rev. William Coffin
So
We could have taken him at 40 instead of Whitehurst. That’s all.
Yes
I really hope we can avoid discussing this “WE COULDA HAD” for the next few weeks. It’s so pointless.

Like John said, if used properly Mays can be really good.
Oh no. Thomas is better

Doesn't matter if he's better
I guarantee he’s going to play with a chip on his shoulder every time he plays the ’Hawks.
So far, the NFC West has completely owned this draft, though.

I think Gerhart should be drafted (even by us, in the 4th round) but this seems too early for him.
Gerhart. Ran a 4.50 40
I know, not that slow….but he’s not very quick or fluid, either. Other than his good 2009 season, not too impressed.

Pressing need, meet excellent player.
Anybody doubting this front office now?
I can’t help but think Whitehurst might be good…

I have reservations about their ability to draft.
So far it’s been impossible to screw up for Seattle, they’ve had multiple players to choose from who were premier talent (relative to the spot they were picking) at every spot they’ve picked so far. I don’t hold that against them, I’m just not sold they are good at drafting yet.
Now with more lemon bars!
Ha!
It’s true. But I don’t want a FO that manages to not screw themselves over. I want a FO that consistently makes good picks and good moves.

Oh come on, full of doubt? I'm prescribing you a beer.

That and next year's picks should tell us a lot.
Though by then I’ll probably have a pretty concrete opinion off our FO.
Now with more lemon bars!
But they also aren't pullin an Al Davis
so I give them some credit.

I am liking their draft decisions
They should never try to trade ever.
4.42 and 1500 yards and 15 TD's
Good analysis
where are you watching Sando's updates?

Tate is an awesome pick
Just as good as Damian Williams, who I’ve fallen in love with for no reason. I’m happy with this pick.
How can that pick be in?
NFLN is talking to some old white guy and we STILL haven’t heard anytihng about Seattle’s pick at all.
Turned it off
since they don’t seem to think announcing the actual picks is important.

that pick is ................
Golden !
He’s always open. He catches a lot of balls. He’s un-guardable, no matter how old he is
Not equal.
One is greater than the other.
Tate + Whitehurst for Clausen and our 2011 3rd rounder
to be more accurate…
Although anyone picked between 40 and 59 could be substituted for Clausen.
Pete didn't take his own WR
He’s always open. He catches a lot of balls. He’s un-guardable, no matter how old he is
TATE SCOUTING REPORT
Emily Schaible:
Scouts Inc. gives Golden Tate a grade of 84.
Pros: A tough and determined runner with ball in the hand. Shows elusiveness to consistently make first defender miss in the open field. Displays good open field vision and runs with above-average balance and determination to run through arm tackle attempts. Shows excellent sideline and down/distance awareness. Active and willing to attack the middle of the field. Shows good focus to make catch while absorbing hit.
Cons: Too choppy at top of stem and takes too long getting in and out of breaks. Initial burst off the line scrimmage is just average. Also may have trouble getting off press coverage at the NFL level. Does not produce in vertical game as much as 40-time might indicate. Gradually builds to top-end speed. Size somewhat limits his NFL potential in this department, as well.
SI has him ranked best available.
Almost tied with Griffen and Williams

Golden Tate is a steal at this pick
Don’t know much about him, though….thought he would be long gone by now. But I like the idea of getting someone highly rated, and a new receiver to boot!
Totally.
We need to trade up and get Griffin if at all possible.
by BurtonOerney on Apr 23, 2010 5:20 PM PDT up reply actions
Hmmm. Interesting pick.
Doesn’t say much about Deon Butler.
Because Butler seems to be a poor man's Tate.
Hopefully we can transition him to the slot or something. Butler’s certainly not a split-end, at least not by my definition.
So? What does that mean, exactly?
Branch can barely stay on the field, I doubt he’s part of our long-term plans. You’re right, I think Butler was projected to be Branch’s successor. But with the acquisition of Tate, I think Tate takes Branch’s spot at the Z. I don’t think Butler’s the kind of player to be the X… that’s Housh (and maybe, just maybe, one of the Williams down the road).
You know what? Screw it. Trade back into the 3rd and grab McCoy.
The Seahawks have traded my signature to the Detroit Lions for a 6th round draft pick.
Dwyer will go soon.
He has to – next best rated RB, right?

Housh, Branch, Butler, Carlson...did we need TATE
more than a pressure DE like Griffen? Just wondering your thoughts.
At best
I’d trade him for a pack of smokes

Why would we cut him in an uncapped year?
We can afford it, adds good depth
by B.B.Finnegan on Apr 23, 2010 5:27 PM PDT up reply actions
Carroll may still plan on moving Curry to SDE
At the very least, they can still get a decent one later in the draft.
Don't think statically.
How long does Housh and Branch have? Can’t count on them for long, if at all, so we shouldn’t eliminate WR from positions to consider. Tate was the best talent.

One defender
None of the rest were in position and Aire Justin (9) doesn’t have the hops or athleticism of Tate, or many other WRs. Nice catch, but hanging onto it was the good part, not the jump ball part.

Now I'll get drunk and wait for the fourth round.
We’ll pick up our DE, CB and RB there. And they’ll be pretty damned good players, too.

why spend a pick on McKnight
when we could probably get Stafon Johnson as an UDFA?

yeah, but getting Tate filled the versatile playmaker need,
IMO, Johnson’s the type of RB we need.

Okung, Thomas, Tate + Curry, Unger, & Butler
Seems to be a decent core to build off of. Q/PM seem to have done okay for themselves, but this draft has been a crazy one. Makes one wonder what Ruskell would have done. Seems like we could have traded more….kept waiting for Schneider to work that angle.
Wilson, Hawthorne, Jackson.
all young players on D
I was just thinking about the first 3 picks, cause even picking early is no guarantee.
But we definitely have some talent. We also happen to still have some big holes, not to mention depth. This is where you hope that the staff can fill in the gaps with role players that can be coached up.
Anyone trade next years 2 for this years 3?
