Seattle Seahawks Select Walter Thurmond III at 111
Walter Thurmond is an excellent talent that can't escape injuries. It's an old story. Many times, the injuries continue and the player is dinged up and worn down until his talent no longer merits the frustration. Sometimes, the injuries subside and the daring team lands a great talent and exceptional value.
Picks like Thurmond are thought risky, but I doubt Thurmond is much less likely to recover than an average fourth round pick is to develop. Apart from injury, and it was significant, tearing his ACL, MCL and PCL, Thurmond has no major weaknesses. He has pro level athleticism and speed, is good at most corner skills, a willing tackler and a hell of a ballhawk. So, equal downside, but excellent upside.
Great pick.

Maybe Schnieder had more to do with Green Bays success then we once thought?
and is doing more for Seattle then we thought he would.
Or learned in a great environment.
In a place where the draft was won every year, and the rewards were obvious. Either way, it’s looking good for us.
Boom or Bust Pick, Then?
Well, the upside’s terrific, and the downside is zero. Okay. I can handle that in the fourth round.
I’m hoping for Daniel Teo’Nesheim with the next pick.
It makes me wonder what the Eagles are up to
How irrelevant was the Tapp trade now.

They're stockpiling talent at DE
They also took Ricky Sapp
Talents that I covet:
Ndamukong Suh, Gerald McCoy, Sam Bradford, Mike Iupati, Golden Tate, Earl Thomas, and Freddie Barnes

Still couldn't run or jump at his pro day last month
He did do 14 reps at 225 lbs. So at least his upper bosy is still functional.
I had a bosy
once in college.
2/3 of the world is covered by water. The rest is covered by Marcus Trufant.
EJ Willson, DE from UNC was our pick at #127. Anyone have a read on him?

From UNC's website:
Posted 29 tackles for losses and 12 sacks during his career • Set UNC record in the squat (670 lbs.) for a defensive end.

EJ Wilson
Great character. Hard worker. Not great athletically but could be a solid player in the nfl if he works on his pass rushing moves.
from cbssports. Sounds like they could move him inside to 3-tech?
North Carolina’s 2009 defense included a handful of juniors who will be near the top of draft boards in 2011, but Wilson’s strong, steady play as a three-year starter earned him the respect of teammates, coaches and scouts.
Wilson contributed as a true freshman with 19 tackles, three for loss, and two sacks as a pass rush specialist. He started every game in 2007 (38-9.5-5) and 2008 (38-4.5-1) before really popping on film as a senior with 49 tackles (40 solo), 12 for loss and four sacks; he also ranked in the top 10 nationally with five forced fumbles.
Certainly Wilson’s production was helped by having several talented players around him. But his combination of strength and aggressive pass rush skills on the strong side are intriguing for teams looking to move him inside to a three-technique spot or possibly play him outside in the 3-4 at the next level.
depth - which is okay with me
If we cycle guys in every two or three plays to keep legs fresh

I think Carroll will want him to play CB
He always had great games against them.
