Pete Carroll loves his big safeties. Loves. Loves. Loves his big safeties. Luckily, he loosed his death grip on personnel decisions and Seattle instead drafted a good safety that fits the modern game: Earl Thomas. Still, drafting Taylor Mays the lesser must make Carroll happy.
Kam Chancellor is an in-the-box thumper that has the skills to compensate for his lackluster quickness. Short term, Chancellor will provide the run stopping presence Seattle shoehorned Deon Grant into and help as a special teams player. Long term, he's the kind of steady performer a team seems to always want to upgrade on. Not bad, but could be a liability in coverage.
