Granger can play some 0- or 1-tech
"Those who fear disorder more than injustice inevitably produce more of both." -- Rev. William Coffin
I am selfishly hoping he's good so I can root for someone with my last name
I tried to care about Danny Granger on the Indiana Pacers, but it didn’t ever take.
Byers lost two seasons to a knee injury

If he is this is the year they have to show him.
If someone doesn’t step up this year then we will be moving up and starting a rookie QB.

They brought in a guy who has 4 years experience holding a clipboard
This should help Teel out immeasureably. I’m not sure Hasselbeck had the experience that Whitehurst has to properly mentor Teel in the ways of the clipboard. He’s going to hold the clipboard so well that a team is going to trade us some decent draft picks for the guy.

Not the same Marcus Brown as the 6'2"-6'3" track star from McNeese State.
His name popped out at me so I double-checked. Still a good-sized CB, but I couldn’t find any scouting reports on him yet. If anyone finds one I’d love to see it.
Haha, there's Byers.
I knew we were going to come up with a USC offensive lineman.
PC said he "flies to his down field blocks"
Basically a fast high motor guy. The word
Cerebral was actually used.

Pinkard and Byers will make the team.
Awesome UDFA additions.

If Granger can get healthy and stay healthy
he ought to be a very good starter in this league. If he can’t, he’ll never see the field.

Byers, Granger, Carter and Will Harris
I like their chances
And here’s to hoping Rob Rose can figure out how to use his freakish athleticism.
As if this draft couldn't get any better
We add some depth and competition for training camp!
I am a bear of very little brains and big words bother me.
I know it is a longshot, but the guy I want to make it is Jacob Phillips
How cool would it be to have a player on the roster that went to Belhaven?
Interesting, Granger is Danny Granger's cousin (NBA).
Early prospect watch: RB C.J. Spiller, QB Sam Bradford, OT Ciron Black, DT Gerald McCoy, S Eric Berry, DT Ndamukong Suh, RB Jonathan Dwyer. [0 for 7].
Love several of these signings
Thought we’d spend a 7th on Byers, thrilled he signed. 39 straight starts after injuries in ‘05-’06. He could be to Seattle what Jeff Saturday is to Indy.
Also very happy with Granger. Shoplifting and foot injury in 2008, but the real issue is back injury later that year requiring surgery, and preventing him from playing in 2009. If the back is healed, he could be a nice surprise.
Pawelek in niether fast nor quick, but very productive, fearless and durable and great intangibles. He may stick as ILB depth like DD Lewis, but may not if he can’t contribute on special teams.
Pinkard tore ligaments in both knees in ‘06 and ’07, then again in ’09. Natural selection at it’s finest. In the unlikely event he can stay healthy, he’s probably depth at best.
The rest appear to me like camp bodies with very limited potential. Perhaps Gibbs can work miracles with some of the O-line prospects if they stick to the practice squad for a year or two.
Not Rose
His potential’s still very high — he just didn’t realize much of it at OSU. Reading between the lines a bit, it sounds to me like he thought he could make it on talent alone, and really didn’t start to figure out otherwise until near the end of his college career. Going undrafted might be the wakeup call he needs; if he comes out willing to work and accept coaching, he could be a real find.

I wish we could have signed Stafon Johnson.
Still, awesome draft and hopefully some of these UDFA signings pan out. Go Q/PM!
According to Sando, the 49ers signed these undrafted free agents:
Oregon running back LeGarrette Blount, Florida A&M returner LeRoy Vann, West Virginia quarterback Jarrett Brown, Western Illinois cornerback Patrick Stoudamire, Wisconsin free safety Chris Maragos, Missouri receiver Jared Perry, Mississippi receiver Shay Hodge and Louisville receiver Scott Long.
I’d love to have had a chance at Blount, Hodge and Brown. I recognize that Blount was no longer in our plans, due to our trades, and Hodge may well have been someone they weren’t interested in due to their drafting a wideout in the final round who WASN’T Hodge. But what about Brown? I’d like to have seen a QB try out for camp to battle Teel for the third spot.
I get the impression that few people actually watched Brown play quarterback.
He has a cannon, he’s fairly mobile, and he hasn’t ever played quarterback in an offense that in no way resembles an NFL offense.
A lot of double and triple negatives there.
Are you saying he did or did not play in a pro-style offense?
Yeah, I re-wrote that sentence without proofing it.
He did not. He played in a screen and gadget offense.
I only caught one WV game last year but it seemed like he was running a dumbed down version of the Pat White offense
which, uh…
They changed the offense a lot after Pat White left
But like abender said it in no way resembles an NFL offense.
[DELETED ZOMG NO POLITICS]
Blount
No one else sad we didn’t sign the big rb with the most anger and jukes?
Portland transplant to Boston.

He changed his mind and went to the Titans instead of 9ers
that’s good for us, I guess.
I'm relieved.
He may not have been good, but there’s a chance, and I’d prefer he was good in the other conference.
According to Sando:
The 49ers can blame the Seahawks for free-agent running back LeGarrette Blount’s decision to sign with the Titans after agreeing to terms with the 49ers.
Seattle’s move to acquire running back LenDale White from the Titans made the situation in Tennessee preferable to the one awaiting Blount in San Francisco, according to Aaron Wilson of National Football Post.
Blount’s decision to change his mind also demonstrates the difference between “agreed to terms” and “signed” when it comes to NFL contracts. Had Blount signed with the 49ers, he would be pretty much stuck, unless the team agreed to release him. But because the Oregon running back had merely agreed to terms, he was free to change his mind.
Even if it’s just on an unrestricted free agent, I like it!
Ha! Good.
Because if he turns out to be a diamond in the rough, I don’t want him doing it behind the 49ers seemingly improved O-line against the Seahawks 2x a year.
Talents that I covet:
Ndamukong Suh, Gerald McCoy, Sam Bradford, Mike Iupati, Golden Tate, Earl Thomas, and Freddie Barnes

Good for Blount
He’ll have chance to start there and the guy is a beast running that was a 20 million dollar punch. I hope it was worth it.

A chance to start over Chris Johnson?
Interesting. This guy must be REALLY good for an undrafted FA.
I'm not seeing "start" so much.
But taking over LenDale White’s spot, certainly. It makes a lot of sense that he’ll be the short yardage and goal-line specialist.
sorry not start but get carries and be active for games

In a lot of ways, "start" is an elastic term in football
given the specialization that reigns these days.

If you're a running back, the Titans is one of the best teams to end up with
Even with Chris Johnson kicking ass, the Titans have been a run-first team for YEARS; hell, Steve McNair had his best years when running the ball almost as much as he passed.Last year is really the only season in recent memory (since Eddie George left, I guess) when the starting running back got nearly every carry.
What happens if Cop Speed gets hurt, and stops rushing for 2,000 yards? Jeff Fisher is always going to run the ball a lot, and Blount could play his way into at least a few carries, or even a couple of starts; he might not supplant CJ but he could show enough to get a starting gig in another town.
With LenDale leaving town, signing with Tennessee instead of San Fran was a BRILLIANT decision.
I kind wish we had taken Zac Robinson though
He was worth a shot I think. I’d also like to see Riley Skinner from Wake Forest show up. He was the best freshman to start and blah blah blah, but unfortunately he was doing it at Wake Forest.
I wish Cops was on...
Well smart ass...
Curry is a special talent and position that can stand out without a supporting cast.

I knew Burkhart sounded familiar
So I went back and found this:

Burkhart is projected as a late pick, with impressive video.

Nice find
Notice John also suggested taking Anthony McCoy in the second?
by The Ancient Mariner on Apr 26, 2010 9:31 AM PDT up reply actions
He certainly could be a steal
and it would appear that Carroll’s confident of his ability to get McCoy to play up to his potential. (He doesn’t seem to have been shy about not picking his old players, after all.)

I see Roy Lewis on the roster.
He was a good cornerback at UW and was signed by the Steelers in 2008. I was happy to see we picked up three or four DEs, two or three safeties and a couple of WRs in the draft but was disappointed that we didn’t get any extra offensive linemen, especially since we lost Sims, Canfield and maybe Frye and McIntosh. Then I looked at the roster on the Seahawks’ site. We have six new linemen competing for jobs not including Hamilton. Two guards, two centers and two tackles.
Cedric Peerman, anyone?
The Lions cut him, like the Ravens before him.
I’m guessing he’s just not that healthy, because I thought this kid was a pretty good RB at Virginia.
Come on Schneider, Give Peer A Chance!
