Leroy Hill is Suspended for the Seasoner Opener

This is from his case in Georgia. He also loses another game check. The suspension is separate from the Domestic Violence case, which will presumably end with him being suspended longer. It seems possible that he will not face League-al Problems due to that soirée for at least until next season.

Definitely increases his value this season

With a chip this big on his shoulder he’s like to play like something a madman would run from. Plus anything can happen in his legal situation in a year.

The question is: trade-bait or a (needed) asset on defense?

Seattle can opt out of Hill’s contract after this season. It should. Until then, Hill can maybe win back some trade value in whatever handful of games he plays, but I wouldn’t count on it. I am not sure Hill is broken. I think he could play inside linebacker somewhere. But there was a time and a place for Hill in Seattle, and oh it was a glorious time, but that time has passed and Hill is no longer a valuable part of the Seahawks future.

I like Leroy.

Its feels like people are preparing for an inevitable exit by devaluing he player he is. I think he’s a good player and worth holding on to. I’m excited to see what he does this year in the new(er) system. Having four quality linebackers isn’t unheard of for a 4-3 team. It’s necessary, especially given our recent injury problems at the position. Whether Leroy is our LB3 or LB4 doesn’t much matter. Play the best player. If that’s Hawthorne, so be it. Lofa is likely to miss time. Leroy is likely to miss time aside from his 1-game suspension.
