I wonder...
if it wouldn’t be more valuable to have R. Yards per R. Plays and likewise with the passing, rather than the cumulative. Would make comparison between the different formations easier, I think.
In fact, the more I think about this...
it seems like all the cumulative lines would be better as rates (both yards, both TDs, INTs and Sacks).
By the way, John, why are you tracking TDs?
I guess I’m unclear about your goals for this excercise, but in my mind something like the number of times each formation was used in the red zone would be more valuable than TDs. Perhaps it’s just a way to account for the fact that the yardage is theoretically shortened by the play running out of field?
No good reason and I even debated whether or not to add it in
Think I ended up including it because it’s customary, which is a terrible reason.
